Property excellent, host lovely, online listing is misleading
The property is generally fantastic - very modern and clean with a wonderful outside space with an amazing pool, plenty of sunbeds and lovely areas to lounge and have dinner. The place is spotless and the outside areas & pool are cleaned regularly. Our host Cristiana is a very lovely person and worked to make our stay as nice as possible - she was happy to book restaurants & arrange takeaways delivered to the house (this helped with the language barrier locally) - we even tried her amazing homemade Limoncello! It is worth mentioning that the local town is not the prettiest or best equipped in the area, but we knew this before we went, and we hadn't realised that there is a steep uphill climb back to the house - it takes about 30mins to walk into the centre but we didn't attempt the walk back & local taxis are non-existent so it meant one of us had to drive - although Cristiana kindly arranged for us to be brought home from one restaurant on a couple of occasions (this was Aloha Mare - the best restaurant we went to in town). Cristiana was also great with advice on places to go and see, regularly sending us WhatsApp messages when she knew where we were going. The only real downside was that we did not get the property we were sold by the online description...it may have changed by now, but when we booked it suggested we would be getting the whole property, including the main kitchen and lounge area and even after asking the question we were advised we would have the property to ourselves apart from when Cristiana would visit to clean the pool and feed the cats etc. As it turned out, what we actually got were three separate on-suite bedrooms, which were on the ground floor below pool level and that are not interconnected. One of these did have a very small kitchenette and a small dining table, but this was nothing like having a proper kitchen or somewhere to socialize. After complaining, we were given the fourth bedroom, so we could use the room with a kitchenette as a kind of get together space but this was a huge compromise. We also had no idea that Cristiana lives on site and uses the main kitchen and lounge herself. We were very disappointed on arrival, but there was nothing we could do without upsetting our holiday. We still had an amazing stay and Cristiana tries very hard to stay out of the way and so it turned out ok in the end, but we missed out on the family social side we so love and spent a load more money in local restaurants!
