Orca Overlook sits perched on a hillside overlooking some of the most Orca traveled waters in Haro Strait and the Salish Sea. A brand new large deck, surrounded by trees, gives one the feeling of being in a tree house. After you watch the sunset over Vancouver Island in the distance, move indoors to the cozy living room to stream Fire TV (no satellite reception). The home features large windows that look out over the sea, so bring your binoculars.

The open loft, living room, and kitchen are ideal for enjoying your family vacation together. There are two private bedrooms, one with a comfortable queen-size bed and the other with a full-size bed. A third room has a pull-out queen sofa bed. There are also two full bathrooms (one with shower and one with tub) on the main floor.

The kids and family will definitely enjoy the loft which is set up to be a game area, complete with a round card table and dart board. Downstairs, the well equipped kitchen is complete with a bar counter and bar stools for staying in touch with whoever is doing the meal preparation. Nearby is a dining table for indoor dinner seating. If it is a nice sunny day you may choose to eat out on the deck where there is additional seating under a beautiful green sun umbrella, where evening sunsets abound.

A short walk down the access road leads to a community beach shared by four homes in the area. This property is also adjacent to the West Side San Juan Island County park with its beach for launching kayaks and having a picnic.

The property was beautifully located with stunning views. The kitchen and bathrooms were well equipped with everything we needed to make meals. Having included some of the basic necessities was very much appreciated. The open living area provided a wonderful gathering spot for family, and again with the views! Everything was clean and just lovely.

Great house

The View

It is a beautiful house on the west side. The view is spectacular. It was everything as advertised. You could hike down to the County Park or a little beach. We watched the seals from our deck. It is great for friends, couples, or families if you don’t have to worry about little ones out on the deck. We loved it.

The house was great but we hardly had time to enjoy. Late arrival on the ferry and 10 am check-out on Sunday morning. No time for breakfast. Another night would have been good but too expensive.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Beautiful house on the remote side of the island. Beautiful views of the sound. Although the house is listed as having internet, it is unusably slow (probably fine if you're checking email - but torture if you have to work). Only cell coverage is for Canadian providers. So if your goal is to "get away from it all" and Look For Whales, this is the house for you!

Cozy cottage with an amazing view

The house is super sweet, very cozy. Nice kitchen with all the amenities. Two bedrooms, double mattress size, comfortable though. An amazing view, right next to a park. Beautiful deck, ample board games and fireplace. We had a great experience!

Homey with a View

Incredibly homey with an unbeatable view. Absolutely loved our time there, mostly lived on the deck and even caught a few orca swimming by! Only complaint is checkin/checkout 10/4 instead of 11/3 but would highly recommend the house and can't wait to stay there again.

Beautiful view and location

The view was awesome. We enjoyed watching the big ships pass by and the west side of the island was so quiet and peaceful. We had a kayak trip and were able to meet our guide at the county park right down the road.

We got there early and were told we could not sit on the deck when we arrived. Property management never called us to let us know it was ok to enter property as she promised to do. The bedroom is pitch black... with both lights on cannot identify clothing to get dressed. Front deck is stunning but there is not a comfortable way to enjoy it. There are two very uncomfortable metal lounges with a short cushion on it. No cushions for the other two metal deck chairs??? It was a bust - we paid a lot and left a day early.

San Juan Sanctuary

As soon as we walked in we were blown away by how beautiful the place was and how incredible the view was! Also the location is perfect: right near Lime Kiln State Park and Lime Kiln Preserve, which includes lots of hiking trails and beach access. The rental also included lots of board games, which we played as a family. We could not have been happier there!

Gorgeous Views

Easy walk next door to San Juan County park and only a few miles drive to Lime Kiln. Bed was comfortable, Kitchen well equipped. Would recommend for 4 people although listing allows 6, but 2 would be on a fold out couch. Overall, we look forward to staying here again, and found the management company communicative and professional. House was clean. Stove is a little tricky to figure out the first time, use google if you need to. WiFi worked well at speeds of 25mbps.

On the opposite side of the island from town, but we seemed to get better weather. We were able to arrange a kayak tour that started directly from the county park next door. Great communication and support from the property manager.
