Please note: Sorry, no hen or stag parties.. 1 Kirkby Cottage is a charming, semi-detached holiday home in the heart of the pretty village of Sheriff Hutton, on the edge of the Howardian Hills an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty midway between the historic city of York and the bustling market town of Malton.
Offering a warm welcome and with a contemporary feel, this property is ideal for a family of six or a group of friends looking to enjoy this beautiful part of North Yorkshire. The open plan living area is well planned and flooded with natural light from the patio doors which lead out to the enclosed patio area. The underfloor heating provides a warm welcome and will be comforting during the cooler winter months. To the first floor are three comfortable bedrooms offering a mixture of twin and double beds. The master room has the added luxury of an en-suite shower room and a super kingsize bed. The accommodation is completed with a house bathroom with separate shower cubicle. To the rear of the house is a south facing, dog friendly patio which provides a sheltered spot for al fresco dining or an early morning coffee.
Step outside and you will find yourself in the very heart of the village. The local pub is just around the corner and serves delicious meals and traditional ale. There is also a well-stocked village shop and Post Office just across the road. A takeaway can also be found within walking distance. The remains of the 14th century Sheriff Hutton Castle keeps a watchful eye over the village; the castle was one of Richard III’s favourite castles, you can even see it from the rear main bedroom! There is a bus stop adjacent to the property with buses to York, Malton, and Castle Howard.
A short drive brings you to Castle Howard, famous as the home of Brideshead Revisited. With a year-round programme of events a visit here is a must. This area is just perfect for those who enjoy walking and cycling with miles of lanes, public footpaths, and bridleways to explore. York golf course is also a 5-minute drive away. A little further afield is the iconic City of York, home to a plethora of world-renowned visitor attractions.
