Nice property - terrible management
The property is located in a buliding that is owned by MIT House. You have to download their app to gain entry to the building and the apartment. Overall, it was an ok stay. The location was good and the apt was clean. However, there were a few issues:The bathrooms were much smaller than expected but were still functional. The hot water for the shower was inconsistent and often required jiggling of the handle to get hot water. One shower overflowed and leaked. It appeared that this had occurred before. There were not privacy curtains in the bedrooms. People could see in and there was no way to block light at night. The Salamanca neighborhood was nice and quiet. Most of the noise came from inside the building from other renters late at night. They claim to have sound monitors, but the b noise continued throughout my stay. One of my biggest complaints is with the property management. I noticed that there wasn’t a corkscrew/wine opener in the kitchen. When I inquired, I was told that since it was not explicitly listed in the advert, they didn’t provide one. I’ve never been in a VRBO that didn’t have a corkscrew. Furthermore, I was not refunded my security deposit. Despite checking out on Sunday and the apt being occupied by another customer that afternoon, the property management refused to confirm that I would get my deposit back. They claimed they needed a week. I gave them a week, & they did not respond to two inquiries via VRBO. I ended up contesting the charge.
