It is comfortable and peaceful in the cabin, whether you sit in front of the wood stove on a chilly evening or enjoy the summer breeze on the deck looking out over the Wind River. Guests come here to fish, to write, to take a break from the busy-ness of a busy civilization, to let their thoughts and feelings coalesce. There is plenty of room for kids to swing on a tire swing out front and cast for their first fish. Horseback rides and waterfall hikes are right down the road. We are informal here in Dubois. The excitement comes from the kids’ rodeo as well as from the deer, geese and bunnies in the yard. The cabin has all of the amenities-a fully stocked kitchen for cooking, with seasonings, coffee, dishes, pots & pans. The laundry room has detergent. The fire pit has wood. And the grill has charcoal & lighter fluid. There are even skewers for s’mores. Here is the layout of the cabin: a master bedroom with queen bed and an en-suite bathroom with shower. An IKEA full sofa/bed in the kitchen, topped with an additional mattress when needed. A queen sofa/bed in the TV room as well. Please note that there is only 1 bathroom and the entrance is through the bedroom. We try to stick to 100% cotton linens and fragrance-free chemicals in cleaning. The scent of the pine trees and sage are lovely enough. Of course, there is Yellowstone for day trips. As well as the glitzy town of Jackson for its restaurants and shopping. Each are roughly an hour and 45 minutes from the cabin. But there is so much more right around here. We have lots and lots of repeat guests. A number of them come a few times and then decide to make Dubois their home. In fact, that is exactly what your hosts did those many years ago.

The cabin was clean and cozy with all the amenities you need. The wood burning stove was wonderful on a cold May night! Situated in a quiet spot with a great view!
The location is great, close to river and horses, with wildlife passing by and badlands in the back. The owners are friendly and helpful. Our kids loved to learn fishing from the owner. Grand Teton is not too far.
The HEAVENS declare the GLORY of GOD, the SKIES declare HIS HANDIWORK, PS 119:1, AND THEN on the 6th day HE created Eleanor and Andy, the hostess and host of "The Cowboy Cabin" in Dubois, WY, AND ON THE 4th day, HE CREATED the Bighorn Sheep, deer, Red Fox, and dogs, "Belle", and The Badlands, Whiskey Basin, and Horse Creek, and The Wind River, and for Fellowship and worship at Mountain Grace Church, in the Painted Hills of Dubois, WY! Awesome, Amazing, AMERICA, AMERICA, GOD SHED HIS GRACE ON DUBOIS,WY!
The cabin was advertised as old but it was a little rougher than we had thought it would be.
The setting was pretty but not nearly as private as we thought. A garage apartment of some kind was right behind the cabin and there was some noise and doors shutting late into the night.

You guys were here during elk hunting season and the guide who lives 150 meters from the cabin was out looking for them early. Looks like the TV was a problem for you as well. I hope the rest of your trip was enjoyable.
We loved our stay at the cabin by the river. Eleanor and Andy were quick to respond to any questions and even though they were steps away we had complete privacy. Dubois is a really great little town, everyone so friendly. We had pie every day at the Cowboy Cafe (I even tried their Elk Sausage - very good). My only disappointment is that the property is close enough to the road to hear traffic while sitting out on the deck which is why I only gave 4 stars, I so wanted complete quiet near the river. Otherwise, really a sweet little place and worth the drive. Thank you Eleanor and Andy!

I am so sorry that you were here the busiest week of the year. Our 4th of July parade is legendary-featuring the largest privately owned collection of military vehicles in the world. Please consider coming back any other time of the year and you will be unlikely to hear traffic.
Myself, my sister and brother had not vacationed together in 40 years. We booked a week with Eleanor and Andy and had the trip of a lifetime. Dubois is such a beautiful centrally located area and the little town has everything you need if you want to be a little farther from the touristy and crowded areas. The cabin was perfect...we did rode trips everyday to all the places we wanted to see, and then came home to the cozy cabin. Even fished most days for a bit right behind the cabin. The hosts made it the best trip ever. We will be back next year. Cannot rate highly enough. I would have loved to spend one more week!!!

Thank you for a wonderful review. You are the best guests! We miss you all already. Looking forward to your return. Xo
We loved our stay in the cabin. It was lovely to sit on the deck and hear the Wind River and watch the deer and geese right at your doorstep. The property is beautiful, the cabin was so quaint, and has everything you could possibly need. It was great meeting Eleanor and Andy. They were helpful with information, and very quick to respond, and we enjoyed the quiet little town of Dubois as a base camp for our trips back and forth to the Tetons. We can't wait to return some day!
Cute spot! We arrived to a clean cabin. The owners had supplied breakfast items to us to get started. Kitchen well equipped. Bed very comfortable with plenty of towels. We stayed 12 days and had a range of weather. The cabin has nice heating system and a sweet wood stove. Will visit again. Great owners! Give it a try,
This was a fabulous get-away for our family of 5. Everything was perfect for us and was exactly what we needed. It served as our home base for visiting Grand Teton National Park but we also enjoyed exploring Dubois and the areas around there. Eleanor and Andy were so great to work with and provided everything we needed. Our only regret was that we didn’t book the house for more days. We definitely plan on going back!
Absolutely Perfect cabin for our first trip to Wyoming!
The 100 year old cowboy cabin what is the perfect place for my husband and I to stay on our first trip to Wyoming. Originally just a small prospectors cabin the owners have added space and transformed this rustic abode to a beautiful vacation spot. The cabin it’s on their property and sits right next to the horse pasture with three fantastic horses who love carrots. The wind river is just a few short steps from the back porch. We spent each evening on the back porch playing cards, listening to music and watching the rabbits hop around. The kitchen was newly renovated and Eleanor had it stocked with everything we could need. We love the town of the Dubois it has great shops and places to eat. Do not miss the National Museum of Military Vehicles just outside of town. We hope to return soon for some trout fishing. Thank you Eleanor and Andy for such an amazing time.
Everything was great - the Gipson's were the perfect hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit at their Cowboy Cabin! My husband loved fly-fishing in the Dubois area while I particularly enjoyed feeding the wonderful horses. Cabin was clean, cozy and comfortable. We had fun shopping & eating in Dubois - the pies & ribs at the Cowboy Cafe were the best ever. We're hoping to return to the Cowboy Cabin again - but plan to stay longer next time! Our thanks to Andy & Eleanor for their kindness, hospitality and for making our stay in Dubois so memorable. We'll definitely be back!
We stayed here for a week in mid-May. The cabin was perfect for relaxation and unplugging, plus Eleanor & Andy were very helpful whenever we had questions or needed anything during our stay. Enjoyed feeding treats to the horses & goat several times. The location is a quick 2 min drive into town & about 5 mins from hiking trails, petroglyphs, and fishing spots - very convenient! Will definitely be back :)
Loved everything (except the soft bed, but that's just a personal preference) including the location, the charm, and the considerate owners. Enjoyed feeding the horses and listening to the river every day.

No, you were right! About the bed and I am so sorry-after your departure we checked and saw that the metal support under the middle has come unattached. Fixed now, but that won’t help you two. Mea culpa.
This is a great little cabin right on the Wind River. Quiet and peaceful yet convenient to shops and restaurants in town. The Gipsons are gracious and fun hosts. Brought us heavy coats when an early snow came. We definitely recommend this place!
We loved this place!! The cabin itself is fine; cozy and well maintained. But what really makes it amazing is the beautiful and peaceful setting: a large shaded yard right next to the Wind River, with horses grazing nearby. We hung a hammock between two trees in the yard and could have spent days there.
Eleanor and Andy were responsive and accommodating hosts. Eleanor made sure to clarify the sleeping arrangements in the cabin before accepting my reservation for six people so we wouldn’t be surprised, and reached out when we were late arriving to make sure we hadn’t gotten lost. Andy made a fire for us in the fire pit on a less-windy evening so my son could have his s’mores :)
We loved everything about this place and hope to be back in the future!
We were a family of 4 (2 adults, 1 19 year old and 1 9 year old) and it was the perfect size for us.
We used the cabin as a way to explore Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and a lot of local area items.
Hosts were great, and the peace and quiet of the cabin was just what we needed. It also doesn’t hurt that the neighbors are three great horses that our youngest loved seeing everyday
We will be back!!!!
The cabin is located in such a manner that the view from the front porch is filled with trees and the river. Each morning and afternoon we were visited by a family of rabbits and ground hog (I think that is what they were) showed up periodically. The pasture next to us had horses which were very friendly and always ready for a treat, provided by the owners.
The cabin interior was welcoming and the kitchen was stocked with all the utensils, dinnerware, and spices we required. Since we were the first occupants this summer, we had one item that was addressed promptly and efficiently.
The owners were very friendly, made sure we had everything we needed but were not intrusive. We enjoyed our stay and did not want to leave. We would rent this property again!!!
The cabin is an excellent place to stay for tranquility, peacefulness and to get away from everything. The cabin also has a very homey feeling. There is so much to explore in the area without having to go to the Grand Teton National Park. The property owners are very nice, personable, down to earth and attentive to whatever you need. Dubois has some excellent restaurants, a great small-town atmosphere and the people are nice. I’ll definitely be staying here over and over because it’s such a nice getaway location.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I wish I knew how we could have made your stay more enjoyable. But I have no idea what refund you are talking about.
