About this property
Lake access with a Boat slip
NO PETS! (Strictly enforced) Escape and relax at our little slice of lake life. Our newly renovated cottage, perfect for family fun or a romantic getaway, offers a shaded yard with a dock slip, fire pit and hot tub. We're centrally located in a highly desired spot--a quick drive to Deep Creek State Park and main restaurant area as well as to the top of Wisp ski resort. Swallow Falls State Park, with one of the highest waterfalls in the state, is just down the road.
First step: Relax ( stay connected with Wi-Fi). We've made it easy to put things down--the spacious mudroom provides a bench, shelves and racks for your skis and snowboards, plus room for helmets, hats and scarves.
You'll find the new kitchen, open to the light and airy living room that offers plenty of plush seating, 55-inch flat screen TV and game table. The screened-in porch is well lit for family gatherings or quiet reading.
Make yourself comfortable in the romantic master suite (main-level), which provides a king bed, lace canopy, cozy bedding and flat screen TV. Upstairs, find another romantic bedroom with a queen bed and a third bedroom with queen and double beds, both with flat-screen TV's.
Second step: Have fun while you soak in the hot tub, lounge in a hammock or play Foosball on the porch. Just a short walk to the dock (or you can drive and park closer. Our house is viewable and two houses away from the dock access parking entrance). The path through the woods is rocky, but not very steep. It is not wheelchair or stroller accessible due to the rocks/boulders. Gather around the fire, grill BBQ and play hide-and-seek in the tree-covered yard or pop in a movie.
Third step: Repeat! We sincerely hope you enjoy your stay and come back to visit.
Please let us know how we can make your stay even better next time.

About the host
Hosted by Larry and Colleen

Hi there! We’re Colleen and Larry, two D.C. suburbanites who, like many people, found the rolling hills and sweet-smelling pines of western Maryland a draw to escape traffic, humidity and a non-stop “to-do” list. We’d been coming to Deep Creek Lake to camp at the state park when the thought came to us that maybe one day we could grab a little slice of lake life to share with others while investing in the area and in our own future. We took on this fixer upper after watching probably too many episodes of renovation shows with the goal of making it a unique cottage that could be enjoyed for many years to come.
Why they chose this property
After searching a few homes for a few months around the lake, we figured it wasn’t meant to be. But then we decided to revisit the house we initially disregarded. Taking another look, we had new ideas about moving things (the kitchen, master bedroom), adding things (master bath, mudroom, parking pad…) and cleaning, repainting and repurposing things (pretty much everything in the house and around the yard).
The house became a cottage, a combination of old and new. The location and lot were ideal for us because you get the buzz of excitement from being at a hot spot near the lake (close to restaurants and action) but you also feel that peaceful calmness from the swaying trees, cool shade and echoes from the boats and people on the water celebrating lake life. We loved that the house was different from others and not too big nor too small. The porch was huge to us—and a great spot for card games, book reading and lots of laughter. The yard called out for a fire pit and because we currently have two little kids, we saw the trees as obstacle course providers as well as holders of a hammock for the adults.
Dock Holiday, on second glance, seemed a perfect fit for us. We hope for you, too!
