The grounds are without a doubt a reason to stay at Duck Cottage, offering cultivated gardens, areas left wild to attract an incredible array of wildlife and bordering the River Bourne. There is river access, to walk in and paddle when low in summer, or enjoy a glass of Prosecco on the platform overlooking. The wildlife and birds are abundant, including otters, deer, kingfisher, owls, pheasants, thrush, woodpecker, nuthatch and many more. A swan is a frequent visitor on the river and shares this wonderful space.
Duck Cottage is a luxury holiday home set in a wonderful village location and close to a traditional village pub. The historic cathedral city of Salisbury is only a short drive or bus journey away, and the awe inspiring, 5000 year old Stonehenge is very near. This wonderful home is perfect for couples or families looking to enjoy the peace and tranquillity that this wonderful setting provides. In addition, the owner who lives next door is an artist and is happy to offer pastel tuition, including all materials, by arrangement.
Given the setting of this holiday home you may not stray far, but should you feel able to tear yourself away from this haven, then there is a plethora of places to visit within 20 minutes so from the iconic Neolithic stone circle of Stonehenge, to the natural beauty of the New Forest National Park and the Jurassic coastline, England’s only UNESCO World Heritage site and both wonderful places to walk and explore and National Trust members have many sites to visit. There is lockable bike storage if required. We are certain that whatever the reason for staying, this charming home will have you longing to return.
One or more beds can be linked to form double or twin beds (please advise the owner of your preference prior to arrival).
There is open water in the property grounds.
