The cottage had everything we needed for a party of 4. Bed comfortable. Everywhere was clean and well presented and cozy feel. All kitchen facilities good. Hot water needed to be boosted to ensure 4 showers but once we found how to do that it was no bother. Not a modern cottage deco but very endearing and we loved it. Great location.

A good cottage but in need of a little updating
We've stayed in Shire Cottage a few times but the first time we have stayed near Christmas and it was lovely to have a tree and decorations to welcome us. We were also pleased to find the sofa and chairs had been changed and were much more comfortable. The cottage is well laid out and had everything we needed. It is also warm and has the option of a wood burning stove for extra character. The only thing letting it down are the beds. Especially the single beds which are uncomfortable and creak loudly when you turn over. It would be perfect if they were replaced. Oh, and a bigger bin in the kitchen wouldn't go amiss!

Mixed feelings
Clean and very warm cottage with great layout. Lots of hot water. That said the cottage needs some TLC. You have to look beyond curtains hanging off rails. The crockery / cutlery and glass situation resembles a jumble sale and poor. Pots and pans for cooking on the other hand are good. A couple of miles from Broadway so good location but beware very scruffy yard and outlook. All of that said we looked beyond the flaws and enjoyed our stay.

My wife and I really enjoyed the cottage. Definitely worth a repeat visit.
The cottage felt like a cottage in the countryside. It had almost everything that you could ask for. My only criticism is that there was no dish drying towels or paper towels in the kitchen.

Good but it’s the little things that matter
Overall a cosy, comfortable cottage, let down by some details:
A ‘mish mash’ of crockery, cutlery and glasses. Should be at least 4 of everything for a 4 person accommodation e.g. only 2 (mismatched) wine glasses.
An uncomfortable bed.
A tv with only basic freeview channels (no opportunity to connect to Streaming services).
No ‘Welcome Pack’ (there usually is in self catering accommodation.
A request from Welly Boots to strip the bed linen before we left - really!
Sort these things out and our recommendation would be a ‘yes’, rather than a ‘no’

An atmospheric country cottage
Shire Cottage was all we expected, and we enjoyed our stay in the rural setting, just a couple of miles outside Broadway. The accommodation was comfortable, and well equipped, although space in the bedrooms was tight. The one outstanding negative was the creaky floors upstairs, the noise from them enough to waken someone who had retired early. The outside space was also restricted and the outlook was not inspiring.

I'm sorry you found the upstairs floor creaky, its an old farm cottage so we cant alter anything I'm afraid. Same with the outlook! Its a farm cottage looking over the the old farmyard and converted farm building. Glad your stay was good otherwise and you would have seen the layout and house measurements on the floorplan.

Fine for short stay but basic
Property OK, photos a little deceiving as not as welcoming and cosy as depicted. Basic needs met but the second bedrooms beds are totally unsuitable for anyone older than about 10 as very uncomfortable and ridiculously noisy when moving around on them.
Hot water for shower pretty much went cold after 2 showers so not great when there's 3 or 4 people.
Sofa springs pretty much shot so not comfortable.
Property very much needs some attention and money spent as peeling paintwork and generally tired and dated.
Would not return.

Many thanks for your review. I'm sorry you found the beds uncomfortable, you will see from previous reviews that guest have commented how comfortable they are. As you can imagine personal preference is hard when we try and cater for all. I wish you had contacted me about the hot water. Someone had fiddled with the timer as there would be enough for constant hot hot water as the boiler is a combi type that heats on demand.

A great Christmas stay
We came to stay at Shire Cottage for our second Christmas in a row. It was very clean and tidy and well decorated and was a great place to stay, conveniently located for the Cotswolds.

A spacious, well appointed cottage
This quiet cottage had everything we needed for a weekend away. Great to have lots of space and three toilets! It was cool on arrival as the underfloor heating downstairs had not been on for a while, but the wood-burning stove soon made us toasty. After that the heating was fine. A couple of small tweaks would make it perfect - the placemats need replacing as they are in very poor condition; and there aren't any baking trays, just roasting tins.

A great place let down by silly shortfalls.
This is a great place to stay in a beautiful location. It is the second time that my wife and I have stayed here but the first time under wellyboot.
The basics of the stay were great as previously, everything you could wish for.
The company let themselves down by small shortfalls.
There was no welcome/introduction sheet. We regularly stay in cottages and this is the first time that I have not seen a sheet with important local telephone number e.g. doctor, or recommended restaurants, or how to recycle.
It was quite annoying to arrive on the first evening to find there was no kitchen roll, cling film or kitchen foil. Small things but things one uses all the time.
As I said great place let down by the letting agent.

Super cottage
One of the best cottages we have stayed in!! Spotlessly clean comfortable, and extremely well equipped. Location in a very quiet rural spot very close to Broadway and all the other wonderful Cotswolds towns and villages. Pat the owner, lives next door and was very welcoming and helpful. Very glad we have found this super cottage!
