About this property
Charming thatched seaside cottage right next to the beach
This lovely thatched cottage, which has been in our family for almost 90 years, was bought by my grandfather in the 1920s, and we have been welcoming holidaymakers here for the last 40 years or so.
There are three bedrooms and a very large living/dining room. The bedrooms are all front-facing and the king with en-suite has views over both the garden and beach. The largest is a family room with double and two full-sized single beds. The third is a twin room and one of the beds has a full-height trundle bed under which makes either three 3’ single beds or a 6’ double + another single.
The garden is large and level, perfect for ball games and it also provides off-road car parking.
Just across the road is the slipway to the lovely bathing beach - and at low tide you can walk over to Outer Hope village.
The main village of Outer Hope, with Post Office/general store, cafe/restaurant and pub, is a short walk away up a footpath if the tide is high. There are also hotels on the doorstep for snacks and restaurant meals.

About the host
Hosted by Cathy Gillard and Shelley Birchmore

The cottage has been in our family for over 90 years. The whole family grew up in Devon, and most of us still live locally. The cottage has been rented to holidaymakers for many years, and most visitors continue to come to Spray Cottage year after year.
Why they chose this property
The cottage has been passed down through the generations, and although none of the family live there full-time we all have our own weeks to holiday there. Renting out some weeks ensures that we are able to keep the cottage updated and in lovely condition.
What makes this property unique
Right next to the sea, Spray Cottage benefits from the prime location in the small village of Inner Hope. Boat launching is easy straight from the garden to the slipway and beach.
The children can play on the beach and in the water without wandering too far from home. The South West Coast path is right opposite the bottom of the garden, and leads to some spectacular coastal and countryside walking.
The main Hope Cove village has a shop for essentials and groceries. The Hope and Anchor pub is a good sized family venue and The Cove, next door, has an excellent restaurant and bar. There are a few hotels which offer dining and if you don't mind driving a short distance, Salcombe is only a few miles away.
