About this property

Spectacular views over Slapton Ley and Start Bay

The first floor consists of three double bedrooms with wash-basins, a bathroom with instantaneous shower over the bath and a separate toilet. The two front bedrooms, one double and the other twin bedded, have superb views over the Ley and the sea ideal for the lazy twitcher ('birdwatcher!'). The rear double-bedroom has a pleasant view up over the fields towards Widewell valley. On the ground floor there is a dining room and comfortably furnished lounge with colour television. A large well-equipped kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, automatic washing machine and dining table overlooks and has access to the enclosed back garden with clothes line. There is a patio with garden furniture and a barbecue for outdoor entertaining.
 
The cottage has its own water supply automatically pumped from its' well to the storage tank in the roof space. Heating when required is by new Economy 7 night storage heaters. There is exceptionally good 4G coverage. Myrtle Cottage is situated in the grounds of 'Daybreak', the home of the owner so, should there possibly be a problem, help is close at hand. The expression most commonly used by our regular tenants is that "We are not only coming on holiday but coming home."

Great for families

We visited the house with a 3 generation family, from 8 to 80. Everyone loved the stay. The house is lovely with 3 good sized bed rooms and a nice garden. Just a short walk to sea. Was a great stay, can only recommend!

Sandra is an excellent host and we very much look forward to staying again.

We loved Myrtle Cottage and the South facing enclosed garden was a real bonus. The cottage has character, with lots of original features and the large kitchen (with walk in pantry) really is the heart of the home. It may not have all the mid cons and modern features, but we really liked its individuality.

Home from home with views

Just back from a lovely week in our favourite place . Stayed in various accommodations in the area over the years but Myrtle cottage beats them all . Ideal location , wonderful views , spotlessly clean , very well equipped . The totally enclosed back garden just the job for our little dog . If you’re concerned about the host being next door don’t be . We didn’t see or hear them other than when we had a minor problem that was sorted promptly by Sandra .Myrtle cottage is very reasonably priced compared to others we’ve stayed in in the area but with the same high standards throughout . Lovely light airy rooms ( photos don’t do it justice ) perfect for family getaway . 10/10

1 Woche Entspannung und superschöne Umgebung. Haus war wie angekündigt einwandfrei. Vor allem in der Küche endlich mal mehr Besteck und Geschirr als unbedingt notwendig. Nicht nur die Mindestanzahl.Einkaufsmöglichkeiten: Lidl in Dartmouth, ca. 30 Minuten. Kleiner Farmladen Stokeley mit allem, was man benötigt (da Campingplatz nebenan) und sogar eigener Brauerei. Zwar etwas teurer, aber direkt um die Ecke (ca. 500 Meter entfernt.Sandra ist eine super nette Vermieterin. Alles völlig problemlos. Sehr zu empfehlen.

The cottage is spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils. The front of the cottage overlooks Slapton Ley and the beach is a ten minute walk away.

Brilliant

Myrtle Cottage is clearly much loved by Raymond and his family, who are always on-hand to help with virtually anything. The stunning views and location 5 minutes walk from the beach were just the start. We really enjoyed our holiday and were reluctant to leave. My only reservation is that if I'm too glowing about it, the cottage will be more popular making it harder to book in the future! We hope to return many times over.

Nice stay in a comfortable house

Comfortable house, with a private garden and the possibility of doing a barbecue. The rooms are really spacious and well equipped and the owner is very nice. It was a bit hard to find, but we found help easily in the village. Would definitely come back!

Myrtle Cottage belonged to my grandparents. They and their children were evacuated during the war and returned to rebuild it. After they passed away my mother turned it into a much loved holiday home and it is now my turn to manage it.

What makes this property unique

Pure well water, off road parking for up to 3 cars, contained back garden suitable for dogs, children and bbq's. Fantastic views of the ley and the sea beyond.
