About this property
Dalfern Lodge - Aviemore lodge with hot tub and bbq hut
Welcome to Dalfern Lodge (formerly The Shambles), Aviemore. Nestled in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, this luxurious and dog-friendly lodge is a favorite choice for multi-generational families seeking high quality self catering accommodation.
Spacious and thoughtfully designed, Dalfern Lodge comfortably accommodates up to 8 guests, the versatile space makes it ideal for large families or groups of friends. With its elegant finishes and generous living spaces, it’s the perfect place to relax, reconnect, and enjoy a memorable stay in Aviemore.
Stand out features include the social outdoor space which is home to the hot tub and the BBQ hut. Not forgetting the playhouse - a great wee escape for the young children. Perfect for wet weather days.
A short walk to Aviemore, the River Spey and the orbital route makes this a great base for exploring the Cairngorms. Amazing views can be had at the nearby 18 hole golf course.
With everything you'd expect from a family holiday home, Dalfern Lodge really delivers on the indoor space. With two lounges, each with a wood burning stove, there is room for everyone and all ages. The kitchen has a fully equipped laundry room and a dining space for casual nights.
There are two double rooms with en-suite bathrooms, and two twin rooms with one that can be made into a superking on request. We also have a single kids room with a pull out bed underneath. A toddler bed is also on hand in the main bedroom should you need to keep a little one closer, and a cot and high chair is also available. Wi-Fi, Smart TVs, and board games will keep you entertained and a desk area is available for any important work that cannot wait.
In 2024 and 2025, the lodge was extensively upgraded. This included a fully renovated bathroom, a brand new additional bathroom, two refreshed bathrooms, and a modern new heating system. The garage was also opened up to provide a fantastic indoor space with a pool table, darts, and storage for bikes and outdoor kit. These improvements build on earlier upgrades to the bedrooms, beds, and outdoor space.
At Igloo, we believe in responsible tourism, and we take our eco values seriously. That's why we have partnered with Trees for Life to plant a tree in our Caledonian forest grove every time you book with us. We also strive to support the local community. That's why we shop locally and use sustainable cleaning materials for guest use during their stay. We are also proud sponsors of the local ice rink and other community causes.
The lodge offers partial ground floor accessibility, with bedrooms, bathrooms, and a living room conveniently located on the ground floor. Guests can easily enjoy the facilities, and parking is available for two to three cars. There are steps at both entrances.
Dalfern Lodge is perfectly situated to make the most of Aviemore and its surroundings. Just a short distance away, you’ll find the Aviemore Ice Rink, a variety of shops like Aldi and Tesco, and a vibrant selection of bars and restaurants to enjoy. Nature lovers will appreciate the nearby Craigellachie Nature Reserve, while adventure seekers can easily access the Rothiemurchus Estate, Cairngorm Mountain Resort, Loch Morlich, Loch an Eilean, and Loch Insh.
The area offers a wealth of activities to suit all interests and ages. Hit the slopes for skiing and snowboarding, explore scenic trails with a hike or climb, or take to the roads and mountains on a bike. Families will love visiting attractions like the Landmark Adventure Park, Highland Folk Museum, and Highland Wildlife Park, while water enthusiasts can dive into river sports or open water adventures. For younger children, nearby soft play centers provide hours of fun. There’s truly something for everyone to enjoy!

Erin
Having worked in tourism for many years, I felt now was the time to give people the sustainable choices that are increasingly important to us all. So using my extensive knowledge of the local market, I have created igloo with Nick. I understand fully the needs of owners and guests, having worked in the industry for a considerable length of time in management roles within rentals, sales and lodge services.
What I love best about the job is the customer satisfaction. Ensuring that everything is as it should be when my guests arrive and that they are kept well informed before, during and after their stay. I love it when people call and you really get a chance to get to know them.

I have had two passions for as long as I can remember - Travelling and The Highlands.
Growing up here in the Highlands, I have always been passionate about its history, places, people and our world class food & drink. I am particularly fond of our local craft beers!
I love to travel and I've always enjoyed getting off beaten track and experiencing things like a local. There is no better way to do this than self-catering.
Starting igloo with Erin not only allows me to combine these two passions but brings together my design, marketing and management skills built from a varied career across the public and private sector.
I have been brought up in Aviemore, as were many generations of my family before me. So I bring a deep rooted sense of love and responsibility to the area that I live in.
