About this property

The Haven - Ambleside Town Centre, sleeps 8 guests

This stunning mid-17th-century holiday home is Grade II listed and only a short walk from Ambleside centre, but you will feel hidden in the mountains. The whole house perfectly combines the original features and character of the building with all the necessities of modern living.

Enter the spacious kitchen with the original slate floor and exposed wood beams on the ceiling. The large oval dining table comfortably seats eight and is the perfect place to share a feast in the centre of the room. The kitchen is filled with history, with the original bread cupboard dated 1658 and the spice cupboard dated 1652. It is well equipped with all you could need to host a group of friends or family. Down a few steep steps and into the pantry is plenty more storage, and you will see the original meat hooks from days gone by coming from the ceiling.

The hallway is large and airy with its original slate floor, traditional patterned tiles, and the original doorbell can be seen above the door. A grandfather clock chimes away calmly in the background, creating a wonderfully peaceful environment downstairs. Chandelier lights and decorated bookcases add to the cosy home feeling.

There are two spacious living rooms, both with plenty of seating, a log burner and a TV, so there'll be no fighting over what to watch on those nights spent wrapped up by the fire. Also downstairs is a modern and spacious bathroom where the original slate floor extends, with a bath with shower and rain shower head to melt those stresses away, loo and basin.

There are 14 wide carpeted stairs with a handrail up to the first floor. The staircase has a wonderfully high ceiling, with a magnificent light piece hanging from it, which opens up into the roomy landing from which you access the four bedrooms, study, and bathroom. Each of the rooms has been decorated beautifully with so much attention to detail. They are all bright and spacious, well equipped with drawers, hanging space and mirrors for getting ready. Each bathroom has been equipped with gorgeous Bath House toiletries.

Outside is a patio area with ample table seating for eight, a lovely space for some al fresco dining, and a cosy conservatory with two chairs and a truly fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. The gardens feature a pleasing array of greens, flowerbeds, an orchard, a water feature leading to the pond, and seating throughout the space. Following the garden around to the front of the house is a more enclosed and private grassy area.
