About this property

Character cottage near Sudeley Castle, Hailes Abbey, Cotswold Way, Cleeve Common

Stone walls, ceiling beams, and a lovely patio for drinks/dinner. Pet friendly with large field across the road. A colourful and cosy lounge. Dog treats and amenities, if you've forgotten any essentials. 200 years old, so stairs curve upwards. If it’s convenient for you, I may coordinate a time to pop through the house to water my allotment in the summer.

Great location, beautiful town
Amy did a great check in, and all comms were spot on pre stay. The location of the cottage is perfect - walking distance to everything you need including dog walks and pubs. What I would say is that it needed to be explicit in the description that the only way for Amy to get out of her place (which is in the back garden), is through the cottage. This became apparent only whilst on the stay which made it difficult as I have an anxious dog, but also it didn't feel private. Amy did communicate she was coming through (after the first unexpected entrance), but for us, we woulnd't have stayed if we knew this was the case. It caused too much stress for my dog, and didn't feel private enough.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Not suitable for people with disabilities, elderly or young toddlers, stairs are hard to manoeuvre and trip hazards. No privacy as the owner walks through property all the time, not allowed to lock the back door.

Charming cottage full of character
This is a charming terraced cottage in Winchcombe which is very central for exploring the Cotswold area and within easy walking distance of the facilities in the town. Amy has given so much character to the property in her choice of colour and accessories and has made it very comfortable and cosy. The small Italianate patio is excellent for al fresco wining and/or dining. Once you get used to negotiating the stairs, the bedrooms are very cosy and comfortable, especially with the huge TV in the top room and the modern bathroom. Amy was very generous in offering staple items of food and toiletries lest we had forgotten and communicating with her was easy. Not really enough room for four adults but as a couple would thoroughly recommend.

I run Apricot Online. We educate SEND children (www.apricotlearningonline.co.uk). Love helping these children get their education and reinvent themselves as learners.

I have two beagles and live in a cabin in the garden behind the house. Very bohemian -- which is not how anyone who knows me would describe me.

Mostly I'll be working from my cabin by day and enjoying movies in the evenings. So, I'm around if you need me, but will try to stay out of your way while you're visiting. I will only pop through the house to water my allotment.

Why they chose this property

I love this old Anglo-Saxon village -- though we're actually a town now. Winchcombe is an area of outstanding natural beauty and I love imagining Henry VIII riding back from a hunt to see his wife, Catherine Parr at Sudeley Castle. My terrace is called Sudeley View -- and from the master bedroom, when there are no leaves on the trees, and I lean a certain way... I actually do have a view of Sudeley Castle!

It's a great area for walking and there's a field and Rec Centre across the road where my dogs can run. I can just walk to the castle fields for the dogs to have a romp. It's a nice change of scenery for them and me.

I'm also close enough to Stratford-on-Avon for day trips. Cheltenham is about 7 miles down the road if I want to do some proper city shopping. Bristol/Bath and Birmingham are about an hour away by car. There are so many beautiful villages surrounding me -- Broadway, Bourton-on-the-Water, Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Norton, etc. We even have our own steam engine that trundles to Cheltenham and back in the summer. Great for a picnic.

What's not to love?!

What makes this property unique

200 year old period features -- like the lintels over the doors and windows come from retired ships from Bristol.

So central that you can walk to anything in town.

Courtesy basket of essential items you might have forgotten to pack.

Anti-microbial/Anti-allergy pillow protectors on all the beds.
