Lovely cottage & beautiful garden in wonderful Winchcombe

We had a brilliant few days in this lovely cottage & beautiful garden in wonderful Winchcombe. The Corner Cupboard reopened the day of our arrival-very friendly & reasonably priced pub, others to try are the White Hart (very good roast) & the Lion. The Cheltenham bus stopped just outside the door, the railway to Broadway was a delight & the Gifford circus came to town! The weather was great which meant we could enjoy the garden after we'd been cycling.People very friendly & a good selection of shops, including a butchers & bakery.Just be careful of the low beams in the cottage!

Lovely relaxing weekend

We had a lovely long weekend at pyatts pad! Living space is much larger than pictures and the log burner was lovely! Perfect location for trips out to cotswolds. In walking distance of local pubs and take aways Despite kitchen being small it is well equipped and was not an issue! Host left milk, wine and logs for the fire which were much appreciated! Highly recommend!

We would definitely book again.

We would definitely book again. Everything in- and outside was as described and the accommodation was very tidy and clean. Perfectly situated in the heart of a wonderful Cotswolds town. Everything we needed was provided and I cannot share that there was much traffic noise. Even though it lies on the main street, we found it pleasantly quiet. There are three beautiful food-serving pubs in walking distance and if You need more kindling and fire wood, there is a shop across the street. The kitchen could provide another pan and bowl, but it was sufficient at any time.

Great stay….

The cottage is lovely, very quaint and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Great location, pub across the road, close to shops restaurants and perfect walks from your doorstep. Beds are really comfy and I am sure the garden will be stunning in Spring/Summer. When the reviews said small kitchen, they meant it. There is only room for one person (so it took some fun out of preparing meals) with no work top surfaces, no microwave or dishwasher. Also, downstairs is very cold, with only one small radiator to heat all of downstairs we had to light the fire. We had been left a bag of logs for the first night but as the next day of our stay was NYD with no shops open we then had no fire after a day at the races and found ourselves squished together on the sofa with a duvet and 2 blankets that evening trying to get warm. Also the heated towel rail in the bathroom didn’t work the whole time we were there, even following the instructions for boost mode so it was very cold showering each morning. If you are not worried about preparing meals, would highly recommend.

Noisy, needs a clean and mind your head!

The property is on a junction which is noisy and busy from early morning. The noise woke us up at 6am with cars and lorries continually turning in/out of the road directly facing. Could do with a good clean, we weren’t even sure that the bedding had been changed. Even though we knew about the low beams before we booked it, we still kept banging our heads! There are several low beams upstairs and also the back door is low. The garden is overgrown and needs tidying. You can only see the views if sat at the end of the garden. The property is in a good position for exploring the Cotswolds. There was plenty of on street parking.

Thank you, Warren, for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent stay at Pyatt’s Pad. We are pleased to hear that you found the property well located for exploring the Cotswolds and that you appreciated the convenience of on-street parking. We are sorry to learn that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. As the property is situated on the B road leading into Winchcombe, some traffic noise is to be expected, and we understand that this may not be ideal for all guests, despite the short walk to the town centre. The cottage has two bedrooms and you may have found it quieter in the back room, away from the B road. Your comments regarding cleanliness have been passed on to the property owners, who are very disappointed to hear that the normal high standards of their housekeeper were not met. With regards to the garden, it is in a cottage style and September is when most of the plants have finished flowering and are left to overwinter for the benefit of wildlife. We are pleased you appreciated the views from the bottom of the garden, which are even more spectacular in Spring, before everything comes into leaf. The low beams and other period features are part of the traditional character of the property. As you state, these are clearly outlined in the property description and can also be viewed via the Matterport tour available on our website, to help guests make an informed decision prior to booking. The cottage was likely built at the same time as the church in the early 1400s when people were less tall and door heights therefore lower! We thank you again for your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

lovely stay

pyatts pad is a lovely old cottage. it’s maintained very well, extremely clean, and beautifully decorated. the garden in exceptional- flowers, views, bird song = so peaceful. i began every morning in the garden with a cup of tea and quiet. the upstairs beams are low, and it can be hot at night because only one window opens (bedroom fans would help a lot). parking on the street close to the cottage was easy, and although you’re on a main road it wasn't noisy at all even with the pub across the street (fantastic food and service by the way). tea/coffee and wash up supplies were provided, but no hand-soap (in these days of conscious cleanliness, hand soap in a toilet is a necessity). overall a wonderful stay. i’d love to return without my children so i could enjoy more time in this lovely home and beautiful village.

Very cosy cottage but shame about the road

The cottage itself is extremely cosy. While we couldn’t really use it because of the time of year, the garden is wonderfully extensive and must be amazing in the summer. The log burner is lovely, although we would have appreciated being provided with more than one small basket of logs - we had to lug these back and forth from the supermarket without a car which wasn’t easy. The real downside of the cottage however is the location on a busy road. Not only does it bear the brunt of the cars that regularly race through the village at top speed (presumably ignoring speed restrictions) but it’s also right opposite the junction with another main road and there’s a bus stop outside. All this means that you don’t really get that “countryside feeling” as you live with the constant soundtrack of cars (and their lights). That aside, it’s a lovely little cottage.

Thank you Nicholas for your review of Pyatt's Pad. We are delighted to hear that you found the property to be cosy. The property listing does state that only an starter supply of wood is provider for the wood burning stove. The photographs and map in the property listing confirms that the property is located on the main street through Winchcombe, we are sorry that it appears that you may have missed this information when selecting the property. We do hope that overall you enjoyed your time exploring the Cotswolds!

A weeks stay for four people

We spent a week in the cottage. We are all 5’7 and under and the ceilings were still very low. Kitchen far too small to properly cook in for four people and for the size felt very unclean, milk stains in fridge, dishes all needed washing and lots of stains on floor. Generally cleanliness was ok but felt the property had not been deep cleaned in a while, as skirting boards all around the property were very dirty and we had a lot of dirty stains on socks. On the plus, living room was cozy and it was lovely that the items within were traditional. Nice also to have additional programmes on the tv, for evening entertainment. Bedrooms very small but were comfortable. Note, no wardrobes, so you need to keep clothes in your case or try and open draws within rooms. Parking on road near cottage. People drive extremely fast down this road, so you need to park knowing the risk else walk 10mins to town centre to leave car in the town car park. Location good for walks, if you like walking, else we got in the car and researched areas to have days out.

Thank you Helen for review of Pyatt's Pad. This is a characterful 18th century period property and the low ceilings which are described on the website description can be seen on the 3D virtual tour of the property, along with the Kitchen. We will pass your feedback onto the property manager to address the housekeeping issues. If you had been able to contact her during your stay she would have responded immediately to try and rectify your issues. The location of the cottage can be viewed on the location map on the website. Cars can be parked on either side of the road and it is opposite a junction, therefore speeding is impossible on the road outside the cottage. We do hope that you enjoyed your stay in Winchcombe and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Cotswolds soon.
