The property was beautiful inside and out. The location was up in the mountains with beautiful views. Total peace & quiet. Jerry, our host, was excellent. He was not intrusive and so helpful - he made our stay even better. We loved this property and the location and would definitely consider going back. Highly recommended.
My partner and I really enjoyed our retreat to the Villa Asteria. It is peaceful with beautiful views of the mountains and valleys. A great home base for exploring Crete.
Very nice house house. Great view. During a two week stay a change of linnen and a small clean up. Great. The road towards the house on both sides really need some improvements.
We had a lovely holiday and the hosts, Sam and Jerry, we’re both very welcoming and kind. Villa Asteria was just as described and wonderfully located. We were so impressed and enjoyed ourselves so much that we have decided to return next year which we have never done before!
Amazing holiday. This was the second year we have stayed in one of Samantha and Jerry's villas. The villa is exceptional and the pool area stunning. We love the location as it has lovely views and a little off the beaten track, so relaxing. Close to great breaches and restaurants and a water park for the kids. The hosts are so welcoming and are always on hand if you need them We will return one day.
The villa was located in a very peaceful area, but within easy reach of local amenities. The views from both the front and back of the villa were spectacular. We spent many happy hours just taking in nature - from incredible sunsets to listening to the birds, goats and the frogs in the evening by the pool.
Our hosts were very helpful and prompt in replying to any queries.
We will recommend this villa to friends
Very attractive stone built Villa with really nice heated pool. The owners are lovely people, helpful and friendly and dealt with any issues very quickly
The villa had lovely views both to the mountains and the sea. The location was peaceful with only the occasional ring of a goats bell to be heard, but only 10 minutes by car to the nearest tavernas
The whole experience was just what we wanted and we would definitely recommend if you are looking for somewhere away from the busier tourist areas
Had a fantastic 9 nights at villa Astoria. Such a beautiful villa. It felt really spacious and clean and the views from every aspect were spectacular. It seemed a little bit more remote than expected and the drive time to the nearest beach (Kalyves) was more like 25 mins as opposed to the 14 mins as stated in the listing. We preferred Kalivaki beach near Georgioupoli which took a similar amount of time to get to. (Also lovely restaurant here, Armonia Essential Gastronomy). But we were just as happy chillin by the lovely pool and taking in the beautiful views. Great communication from the owners and Jerry was even kind enough to alter the pool lights for me so I could enjoy some better stargazing which was spectacular. I would definitely recommend picking up some provisions on the way there (good supermarket in Kalyves, SYNKA) as you won’t want to go out again on the first day when you arrive. We did a boat trip from Kissamos (1hr 15m drive from villa) to Gramvousa island/Balos which was definitely worth doing. We had such a lovely holiday and can’t recommend this villa highly enough, thankyou Jerry and Samantha, hopefully we will return one day!
Where do I begin. Outstanding property, just gorgeous from top to bottom. The villa and surrounding area are like something out of a movie set. The pool is perfect, Great views from the porch. Plenty of privacy. The scenery around the property is fantastic, mountain views, olive trees, and even distant views of the sea. The hosts were outstanding and provided excellent recommendations, including assistance in finding a local pharmacy. There were even some food essentials in the fridge when we arrived, which was much appreciated. The location is a good jumping off point to many places around the island including Chania and nearby beaches. My family had a really wonderful time, and we highly recommend this villa to those who want to escape the tourist hotels and flats around the populated areas and see a bit of the countryside! 5 stars!!
A peaceful, well equipped Villa with stunning views
We had a fantastic stay at Villa Asteria for a week at the end of May - peaceful, private, and a great base for exploring the Cretan countryside. The villa was clean and well equipped especially the heated pool which we used daily. The Wifi works well on the first floor but we did notice that it was a little weak in the ground floor bedrooms - not a major issue but worth knowing if you plan to work or stream. We had breakfast everyday on the terrace where the views were breathtaking. Samantha and Jerry are very helpful and responsive hosts even leaving us some basic provisions upon arrival which was much appreciated.Tip: arrive in daylight if you can as finding the Villa for the first time will be easier. We rented a Fiat Panda which managed fine on the roads but a slightly bigger car would be more comfortable and stick with well known rental car companies for easier experience. The grocery shop is a 10 minute drive. For meals out we went to Chania town and loved Pulse Vegan and To Stachi.Elafonissi Beach was a trip highlight - worth the 2 Hour drive, especially if you stay till after 3pm when the crowds thin out. Parking is easy and a few places to eat just walking distance from the beach.Highly recommended - we'd happily return!
We’ve just returned from two weeks in Crete, the second of which was spent at Villa Asteria. We’ve stayed in many places around the UK and Europe and this has been our favourite.
It is a beautifully built villa in a stunning location with views of the White Mountains on one side and views down to Souda Bay and there are plenty of places at the property to sit and enjoy sunrise or sunset.
The property inside is immaculate and built and kept to a very high standard indeed. A lot of thought and care has been put in by Samatha and Jerry into the villa and they also provided a very warm and friendly welcome and excellent communication ahead of the stay.
The pool was lovely and in addition to the sun loungers and umbrellas, there were plenty of other shady spots under trees to escape the sun if needed (it was very hot during our stay), and there was always the bonus of bumping into one of Samantha and Jerry’s friendly pet cats in the shade!
In terms of location, we enjoyed being somewhere more rural but still close to Chania and beaches. It felt a bit more like authentic Crete and that made the stay even more enjoyable.
The time at Villa Astoria really made our holiday in Crete for us and as a family, we’d definitely recommend it.
We have stayed in a lot of VRBO's and this is by far the best! Online photos do not do it justice. It is a stunning home with gorgeous views and a pristine pool area that makes you feel like you're at a resort. Our family of 4 had an amazing time. The hosts, Sam and Jerry were always responsive, helpful and extremely kind. The house amenities were plentiful and top notch including a dishwasher and washing machine! Bathrooms and bedding were luxurious! The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. The way the bedrooms are situated gives every guest their privacy but the gathering spaces are comfortable and perfect for a large group. We only had breakfast but the kitchen is fully equipped if you do wish to cook. The views from both the front and back balconies are equally stunning and we enjoyed our coffee outside every morning. The home and grounds are very well maintained. Far enough off the main fare to be quiet but conveniently close to any needed services-groceries, restaurants, etc. Also, great to easily explore the province of Chania. We truly loved our stay and give it a 5 star rating as well as highly recommending this property. We can't wait to go back!!!!

Super Haus mit toller Poolanlage. Vor allem die Kinder (2 und 5 Jahre) haben sich jeden Tag als erstes darauf gefreut in den beheizten Pool zu springen.Toller Ausblick in abgeschiedener Lage.
Jerry and Samantha have created a little paradise. The villa is beautifully nestled in nature and offers a breathtaking view – simply priceless. The pool was a true highlight, perfect for relaxing and taking in the surroundings. Jerry was always helpful, full of great tips, and gave us a warm welcome even late in the evening. We felt completely at home.
