A wonderful property with easy access to the Oval tube station. Olinga was a dream to communicate with and picking up the keys was a snap. Our only caveat (which didn't affect us) was the ceiling height in the dining area and upstairs bedroom. The low ceilings would preclude anyone over 6'2" from staying there. All in all, a delightful stay.
The host went above and beyond to welcome us and make our stay as easy as possible. Great communication. The location is excellent for families and site seeing.
We spent a week at this VRBO and thoroughly enjoy our stay. The tube station is close by and we could easily get around the city. Supermarkets nearby and easily accommodated 2 adult couples.
I have so many great things to say about this place, I don’t even know where to begin…My grandmother, mother, and I stayed here as a home-base while we visited London. It was the perfect little place for my family and I. The host was so responsive and kind. House was clean, and bed were made nicely. PERFECT location with easy access to the underground and bus lines without being overly congested. Wonderful local restaurants nearby as well. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a fun, cozy flat in London!
This was a great place for our vacation. The property was clean and just as described. The location is fantastic. Being a 2 minute walk to a tubr station made getting around very easy. The owner is also very helpful and great to work with.
A wonderful flat a short tube/bus ride away from London Bridge
Three of us spent a wonderful week in this flat, which is very convenient to the tube and bus lines for easy and convenient access to London. The Oval neighborhood is also nice. As noted in the reviews, the ceiling in one portion of the flat is lower than normal but it should not dissuade you from considering this rental (unless you stand over 6 ft tall). The owner is wonderfully communicative and you won't be disappointed. This is ideal for 2-3 adults or 2 adults and up to 2 children.

Only problem was we are from a quiet country home and London was very noisy to us.
Really good place to stay. Very easy to get around. Flat was homey and great for 4. Well stocked kitchen. Not too many restaurants nearby but good Ethiopian food. They explained and heating boiler instructions and were very available if we had questions or issues. We had a memorable Christmas there!

Good morning Lili! Thank you for your lovely review. I think the reason why you didn't find many restaurants open over Christmas is that there are no big brands within a mile but only beautiful independent family boutique restaurants and delicatessents which may themselves be closed? Within the mile we have Japanese, Portugese, French, Italian, Ethopian, Eritrean, Mexican etc along with the usual Fish & Chps, chicken, kebab, etc outlets. Have a lovely restful New Year celebrations!
Lots going for a while with scaffolding. Not peaceful through this process. Otherwise it was an enjoyable stay. Good location. Transport all around London was great.

Loved our week in London. Our flat was comfortable with all the needed amenities. The location is perfectly located across from the tube station with a short ride to many of London's amazing sites. Neighborhood is walkable with groceries and restaurants nearby. Olinga was friendly and met us at the door and even took the luggage up to the flat while we explored the area as the cleaning was completed. Hope for another visit next year!
Very clean flat with great communication and instructions by the owner. The location is convenient to the Tube, bus lines, convenience stores (groceries), and restaurants. The beds were good, clothes washer/dryer and dish washer worked well. The shower always has hot water. Slight ceiling height risk in the dinning and upstairs bedroom, 2nd bedroom is good. Easy to travel in every direction with the public transportation. Recommended for families for room to stretch.
We visit London often. Size of flat and location was good. My only problem was that refrigerator did not have a freezer. We Americans do love our ice and would like a place to keep ice cream. Love the Farmers Market. Had a bit of a problem finding the location to pick up the keys. Everything else went smoothly.
We had a good time in this comfortable flat. It was a sweet flat that made us figure some things out - like where were the dishes? and how do you turn on the heat? But we worked it all out with minimal problems and ended up really enjoying our time. The property manager was easy to get in touch with and made us feel very welcome. The flat was super close to the Oval tube station, which was fantastic. It made it so easy to get to all the spots we wanted to see in London. Thank you for our stay!

I think this is a very interesting point and quite valid. We have multiple properties across the UK and we have found the modern approach to everything (your phone, your TV, etc) is not to burden the guest with a huge manual of dos/donts, operational how to, etc. For example it is true that as the plate cupboard has a 100% glass front we failed to state in the manual where the plates are, and whilst we did say about peak/off-peak heating controls we don't give detailed instructions as we envisaged they will understand as this guest indeed did! Similarly we don't explain how to operate the Amazon Firestick to turn on the TV, browse channels, etc as we think they may be familiar with it. It's a balance around too much or too little information so one that generally we get right but shall try to improve!
We loved our stay at this apartment! The Oval metro is right across the street and several bus stops nearby, and there's an elevator to the apartment, which made it convenient for my wife, who has some mobility impairment. Having a full-sized washer and dryer was very convenient since we stayed here in the middle of a longer vacation. The TV has all the services we needed to relax after a full day (e.g. Netflix, Hulu). Everything worked well, and the apartment was clean. I inadvertently left my Apple Watch at the apartment, and the owner shipped it to us the next day after I notified him -- so kind and helpful!
We had a lovely and comfortable stay at this flat. The flat was as represented in the listing. Olinga was a very kind and responsive host, responding to questions promptly. The beds were comfortable and the flat was very charming in a historic building. The main selling point for this flat is its location to the Tube. The Oval Station is a minute walk away and it was very easy to get to the station and travel around London. We also loved the neighborhood and enjoyed the Farmer’s Market on Saturday and the Venezuelan restaurant around the corner. It is in a very fun and lively residential area, so if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs and use a white noise app on your phone. I am a light sleeper and using these, didn’t have issues sleeping. All four of us enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay. Don’t reconsider because of low ceiling. It is only in the dining room the rest of the space is open and airy.
We accidentally left some clothing. Olinga kindly informed us and is shipping to us. Olinga was always available to answer questions.
The best fish and chips are a short walk to the White Bear (there is a full menu). The Derby Pub is across the street and serves bbq. Nice after a full day of sightseeing.
The Tesco Express (grocery store down the street) requires an app and membership to the Tesco Bank. Shop elsewhere before returning to home base.
Coffee shop next to the Oval tube station serves a variety of coffee/espresso drinks and breakfast.
Look up the building on Google interesting history. Enjoy!
Most of my review is positive. That includes the location, just 1 minute walk to Oval station, cleanliness of the flat, and good communications with the owner.
On the down side just 2 items, the bed upstairs was not comfortable, too soft and sagged in the middle. Obviously it is old. The other issue is that upstairs there was zero storage for clothes. There was 1 dresser with a note saying “locked, do not try to open”, so we had to live out of our suitcases. There was a storage closet but no shelves.
Suggestion: replace the mattress and buy a wardrobe or chest f drawers to cater to guests.

Thank you Declan. As we are both aware, you did not read any of the instructions and had to phone me to gain entry as you hasn't read the written entry correspondence. In there you would have seen that there is a huge stand up walk-in cupboard (about 5m x 2m) where you could have hung clothes, stacked on the shelves, etc. It was behind the full length mirror which slides. You would have also found a mattress topper to accommodate your preference. Never-ending, I hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip!
I stayed with my family (2 adults and 2 teenagers) for two weeks. Everything was as represented and we were comfortable. The owner was very responsive and helpful. The
I appreciate thorough reviews, so some details on minor caveats:
—The flat has 12 foot ceilings, but one part of it is separated to add a loft with a second bedroom. The interior walls are not insulated and the loft/room is separated by fold-away shutters. There is not a lot of privacy between the bedrooms and the rest of the house.
—the fridge does not have a freezer—not even the tiny freezer you would see in a typical American mini fridge.
— I would be leery of staying here in summer. It got up to 86 deg F while we were in London. The flat has one large fan and another small one. However, the windows do not have screens - so it is difficult to get a good cross-breeze going to cool down without letting bugs in. I am American and usually have air conditioning in the summer, so perhaps this wouldn’t bother others.
—the mattresses feel as though they are a bit older. They are, IMO, too soft and sag a bit in the middle. I slept in both at different times. I did not sleep well on this trip, and the mattresses are at least partially to blame.
—The location is great— so long as there is not a cricket game going on at the Oval stadium. The tube station will be overrun right after games let out, and we almost missed a scheduled tour because of this.

Thank you for taking the time to provide a detailed review and making points which deserves not to be dismissed. Having asked 8 questions BEFORE you moved in (a record across our double digit rentals including large country properties, 2 converted chapels sleeping 16-18 each, etc), and judging from your enquiry about what is our repair “policy for critical appliances” I knew you had exacting standards we must try to meet! Your remark about wall insulation of course refers to your complaint that you heard water in the bathroom coming through a shower waste pipe from an upstairs flat. The upstairs bedroom you refer to has bespoked colonial doors on either side of a wall which does indeed have insulation, and I am not aware of any house in the UK that has screens as we are not a tropical climate and thus have no propensity of bugs. Nevertheless, I think your review has highlighted a very valid point which I do indeed acknowledge. Virtually all our guests are from the USA and give us 5 star reviews, but if a potential “American” visitor which you twice referred to, is looking for modern “America” but in London then they should not choose this apartment which is full of it’s rich 125 year heritage (c. 1899) and contains curated vintage items within the flat. Each to their own!
Excellent and well situated place to stay. Shops (24/7 convenience store), pubs, restaurants and transport links, all nearby. The kitchen was generously equipped with both cleaning and cooking essentials, which made laundering and catering straightforward. The host was easily contacted and swift to respond.We would only note, for any other travellers in a London heatwave, that the refrigerator does not have a freezer compartment at the top. We should have checked, before we bought gelato from the splendid Italian deli round the corner and, of course, no ice cubes.

The flat was great for our family of four. Space to spread out a bit with a super convenient location across from the Oval tube station with easy access to all areas of the city via tube.
Great location, and you’re right by the underground stations. Great communication with the host and was available during the times I had questions. Ceiling is low but other than that, it’s a dope flat.
As a family of 4 traveling from Australia, this was the perfect place to stay in London.
The apartment is situated in a beautiful old building (it’s actually an old children’s hospital which is perfect for me as a children’s nurse!) with 2 bedrooms and all the comforts of home including Netflix and Disney+ for the kids!
The apartment was clean and tidy and stocked with all the little things needed to make our stay just that little bit more comfortable.
The location is perfect! Just 2 mins from Oval tube station where you can get to all the tourist attractions with ease. We managed to see everything during our 10 day stay!
Olinga was a fantastic host with great communication. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and we would stay here again in a heartbeat!
