Front garden with sitting-out area and garden furniture. On road parking, 20 yards; additional public car parks, at cost. No smoking. Please note: There is a step in the garden and the property can only be reached on foot.. This two bedroom cottage is located at the end of a mews and just minutes from the town’s high street and Fore Street, the most popular street for restaurants, so once you have enjoyed a day out, if you don’t fancy cooking then there are plenty of quality eateries on offer. The local main beach is just half a mile away and the town’s lovely harbour is just a bit further on. Accessed via stairs, which are steep in parts, are two bedrooms; a double and a twin and on the ground floor there is a comfortable living/dining room with Smart TV and a wood burner for warm nights in. The kitchen is compact but has everything you need and off the kitchen is a shower room. Outside there is a front garden with ample seating to enjoy warmer days or evenings out with a drink in hand.
Berkeley Cottage is within walking distance of the local beaches so unless you are looking to travel further afield you can park up the car and stretch your legs without too much effort. The lovely harbour/port which dates back to at least the 12th century is just a bit further on and offers quality ice cream, fish and chip and various craft shops and art galleries to enjoy, plus Damien Hirst’s Verity statue which is a must see. The surrounding area has many attractions waiting to be discovered such as Cairn Woodland Nature Reserve, Hillsborough and Rapperee Cove, The Torrs, Watermouth Bay and the South West Coast Path. Then there’s the lovely Fuchsia Valley and for the family, Watermouth Castle and Theme Park. Why not take a trip to Lundy Island or enjoy coastal cruises, fishing, sealife safaris and diving which are all available locally. Or take a trip on the Ilfracombe Princess and see seals, porpoises and sea birds nesting on the cliffs. Try your hand at sea fishing on Blue Fin or take an exhilarating tour of the amazing coastline on the Ilfracombe Sea Safari or on the Hampshire Rose, a former RNLI Lifeboat.
Ilfracombe is also perfectly situated to the enjoy the countless other north Devon attractions such as the popular Tarka Trail which provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and scenery stretching from Barnstaple through to Bideford and beyond. And then there’s Exmoor National Park, just 11 miles away and Lynton and Lynmouth, 19 miles to the east with its incredible sea views, rugged cliffs and amazing funicular cliff railway, which opened in 1890 and is the highest and steepest totally water powered railway in the world. And of course, then there are several world class and award-winning beaches such as Saunton Sands, Woolacombe, Croyde and Westward Ho!, all of which are famous for their surfing qualities, vast stretches of sand and also some great dunes. Beach ½ mile.
Please note: There are open, steep, spiral or narrow stairs at the property.
