Istana Semer Villa - Traditional Balinese style Villa with Private Chef.

Set beautifully within 4,000SqM of rolling tropical gardens. Istana Semer is considered one of Bali’s iconic villas which offers classic accommodation in Umalas; the perfect location for everything anyone could want whilst on the Island of the Gods. 

There is no better entrance after a flight than walking through the gate down to the main house, welcomed by the smell of tube roses floating on the breeze coming from the pool and garden ahead. Faces of children and adults alight as they breathe a sigh of relief entwined with excitement for their holidays ahead. Long lazy days by the pool, Bloody Mary’s on tap, the clubhouse housing the pool table and al fresco dining terrace with flowers tumbling from the roof; this is a villa to be enjoyed by all ages!


The traditional open air Balinese architecture leaves a sitting and dining room of epic proportions, the huge professional kitchen is ideal for those running retreats to include cooking classes or perhaps those on holiday wishing to learn the art of balinese traditional recipes with the villa chef. Our chef is on hand to prepare western or indonesian meals throughout your stay with child friendly menus if required as well. 


Istana Semer has been home to weddings, birthdays and so many other wonderful events with life long memories created in this enchanting villa.

MAIN PAVILION
The core of the villa is the main pavilion consisting of the living room, dining area which seats up to 10 people, office and indoor plunge pool with a day bed. Ample comfortable sofas make a great space for all to come together for evening drinks before dinner to watch the sunset. The circular pavilion has a natural stone floor, high alang-alang ceiling and is kept cool with natural breezes and a ceiling fan.

STUDY ROOM
Set at the back of the main pavilion, the study offers a choice of air-conditioning or a fan-cooled breeze. A large satellite TV, DVD/CD player with a movie library for all awaits you as an afternoon nap spot or a quiet evening. 

THE CLUB HOUSE
Sitting above the pool, long lazy lunches can be had around the table seating up to 14 people on the terrace with parents easily able to keep one eye on the children playing in the garden or pool whilst comfortably chatting with a glass of rose in hand. The Club House has a bar and fridge making BBQs possible at any time of day as well as an airconditioned second TV room next door if some have had a little too much sun and need to retreat to the cool!

The club house has also been a key element to the villa lending so well to events of all sizes.

BEDROOMS
The villa has 5 generous double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom. The master and second bedroom both have baths and the rest have showers. King size four poster beds with princess-esque mosquito net canopies enveloping you whilst you dream away in the quiet of Istana Semer. The villa comfortably sleeps 10 adults and 4 children – we can provide one cot if required and if further are needed we can easily rent them for you for a small fee.

UPSTAIRS MASTER BEDROOM
The upstairs master bedroom looks over the garden from a lovely terrace and has its own little sitting room area, dressing room large bathroom with bath and shower as well as TV with international channels and a DVD player.

GUEST BEDROOMS
Five guest bedrooms are located on the ground floor of the villa. Four of them feature typically tropical indoor/outdoor bathrooms, while one bedroom shares a bathroom. One has a day bed on the veranda outside perfect to retreat to with a good book before dinner.

KITCHEN
“La piece de resistance” for all enthusiastic amateur or professional chefs is Istana Semer’s impressive kitchen with masses of space for everyone to enjoy a cooking lesson in the cool. With our in villa Chef ready to take you on a culinary journey.

If you want to host an extra special dinner at the villa we can organise this in-line with your requests with menus as you wish and beautifully laid tables creating a ‘wow factor’ for your guests.

GARDEN & POOL
The gardens are simple and elegant providing an easy and safe location for events of all sizes and everyone to enjoy. Dotted with little corners of shade as well as several wooden “bale’s” for you to enjoy a long and indulgent massage at any time of day. 

The prominent 18m infinity-edge pool is bordered with pool deck on two sides and lotus ponds and pool bale on the other side providing more shade. One end has a shallow 3m x 4m for little ones learning to swim and gain confidence in the water.
