Quintessential Vermont experience
This was our second stay at this charming cottage in rural Vermont. Our family of 4 loves coming here for the quiet, the space for our dogs to run freely and safely, and a space where we can all be together. We bring our ukuleles and enjoy playing music in front of the Vermont castings stove or a game of chess. Our kids appreciate watching a movie at the end of the day while my husband and I sip tea and read novels. The artwork is charming and contributes perfectly to the cozy atmosphere. This cabin is quickly becoming our preferred VT home away from home.
We spent a couple nights at this beautiful cottage. It was the perfect "quiet escape" for a pair of city slickers. We loved the gas fireplace and the cottage was very clean and cozy. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring Vermont during the day. Definitely a great place to get away from the busyness of life!
Great stay on ne kingdom.
The sunset cottage was in the middle of everything we wanted to do--a day in Stowe and a day in lake Willoughby. The accommodations are nice. Only issue was that we rented a movie on redbox because the listing said there would be a DVD player but there was not. We would definitely return.
John is awesome
Everything was just perfect.
How can you improve on perfection!
Thanks for a lovely time at this diamond in the wilderness.
This is a lovely place: the setting is Vermont-at-its-Most-Beautiful, and the interior is at once cozy and roomy enough to gather friends stove-side. It is clean, well-equipped, quiet, and charming. We had such a peaceful time of it!
This was a great place for my sister and I to share while visiting relatives nearby. It's small and efficient, and is certainly in a beautiful area. There were two things, however, that future renters should be aware of. First, because it's in cow country, there will be certain times that the fields nearby will be fertilized with that everlovin' bovine liquid gold. During our stay, it happened during a very hot and humid time. As long as the wind was blowing the right way, it was fine. It was a little overwhelming when the wind shifted, but we figured it comes with the territory. Second, there are lots of spider webs inside and outside of the cottage. I think if these were swept periodically, it would help keep the population in check. (There is also a wasp nest above the front door, but we didn't bother them, and they didn't bother us.) We'd consider renting this property again.
Enjoy the beauty of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, the rural country side, the Green Mountains and the many outdoor activities in any season of the year. Nearby are 5 major skiing & snowboarding areas, Cross Country ski on over 100 km of groomed trails at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, snowmobile to the door on the VAST trails. In the summer, nearby hiking trails, bird watching, numerous lakes, bike trails, sculling, golf, boating and sailing, etc. Stowe is within an hour. Canada is less than an hour and Montreal is about 2 hours.
In nearby Greensboro is the Hillstead Farm Brewery and another 8 micro brewery's are within an hours drive.
Other Activities: Near Craftsbury Outdoor Ctr & VATS trails
Golf: Several public and semi-private courses are within an hour of the cottage, including the new championship course at Jay Peak.
