About this property

Charming Cottage In Llangernyw North Wales

Cartref is a lovingly restored Welsh cottage nestled in the pretty village of Llangernyw in the heart of the Elwy Valley in North Wales. From log fires and cosy nights, to a glass of fizz in the sun trapped garden, Cartref cottage is a perfect place to relax and unwind or explore the great outdoors
The Old Stag pub serving great fresh food and traditional ales, and a well stocked village shop are just a stones throw away.
Cartref has the benefit of on road parking in front of the cottage.

Llangernyw is a small, friendly village in Conwy County, North Wales. It sits in the beautiful Elwy Valley close to where the River Cledwen joins the River Elwy. It is mostly renowned for the 4500-5000 year old yew tree, one of the three oldest living things on the planet, which grows in the grounds of St Digains Church in the centre of the village
Both the Snowdonia National Park and the Colwyn Bay coast are just a 20 minute drive away, making Cartref an excellent touring base, ideal for attractions such as Surf Snowdonia, The Welsh Mountain Zoo and ZipWorld or simply to enjoy the tremendous variety of scenery and open beaches North Wales has to offer.
At Cartref Cottage the wonderful outdoors is right on your door step.

Llanfair village is just a 7 minute drive away from the cottage, with the Black Lion Pub/Restaurant with its ample menu, and Olivia’s cafe by the river, serving everything from a hearty breakfast to delicious meals from the specials board. The small market town of Llanwrst where you will find a selection of pubs, restaurants and shops is a 10 minute drive away, and if you don`t fancy the drive there is a bus stop across the road from the cottage.
Abergele, Betws y Coed and beautiful Snowdonia are all within a twenty minutes drive away.

Great place to stay
It is a fantastic old cottage, well done up, in a pretty small village. You have a small co-op shop and a fantastic pub, as well as a 12th century church with one of the oldest living tree in the world. 25 minutes by car from Conway, it is close enough, but away from busy touristic town, with plenty of walks to do around and places to go. Things to consider: if you have an electric car, you need to plan what you do, as there is no charging point in the village. The house has an induction hob kitchen, not friendly to my old coffee pot, and I am not a fan of coffee plungers or coffee pods. It could do with a couple of extra pans.
