Seeking a romantic getaway or respite from a long work day? You'll love relaxing "at home" in your private 1 BR suite. We are located in a tree lined quiet community. Convenient shopping & restaurants are within walking distance. Short & extended rentals for business travelers or those relocating. Minutes from historic Chadds Ford & the scenic Brandywine Valley, plan to tour our Wine & Ale Trail, hike our greenways or experience the many duPont Chateau's with their glorious gardens & grounds. Though the suite is connected to the rest of the house, a locked door gives you constant privacy. The space has separate entrance with en suite full bath and adjoining sitting/working area. Feel free to enjoy our lower level garden patio. You can walk through our back yard to a nice walking path around our town center, ponds and fountains. We enjoy the company of those who wish to interact and respect the privacy of those who don't. We are available as needed, on site to provide assistance to make this your perfect stay.

Suite was perfect, clean and in a beautiful neighborhood. The host was wonderful and left us delicious blueberry muffins for our first morning there. We came for Longwood garden, it did not disappoint. Plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby.

Lovely stay close to Longwood Gardens

My husband and I felt right at home at Cheryl and Don’s property. The suite is clean and nicely decorated. The robes, assorted reading materials and binder full of recommendations were a great addition. We appreciated the homemade muffins, coffee/tea supplies and hard boiled eggs. The location is quiet, secure and conveniently located to many attractions. .

Perfect location

Fantastic suite

We had a great time staying here for one night. The suite is super clean and comfortable. The hosts made us feel welcome. The beds were cozy with plenty of blankets of needed. The baked goods were an extra special touch and were a great breakfast before checkout. We would definitely stay here again.

Upscale and perfect!

Place was perfect for my husband's birthday getaway! We visited Wimington and Brandywine Valley. Gorgeous neighborhood, clean, beautifully appointed suite. Wonderful communication and thoughtful touches by our host.

Lovely stay at this property. Great communication and clear check in/check out procedures. Lots of little extras and well appointed-tray for wet/dirty shoes, umbrella, robes, shower toiletries, snacks, desk, fluffy towels, etc. great location-less than 20 minutes to pretty much every Brandywine area delight. Would stay again and highly recommend.

Lovely Place

The house is in a beautiful neighborhood. It was nice to have a microwave, mini fridge and coffee pot. We especially enjoyed the homemade muffins. I would highly recommend.

Sweet Retreat!

We were here to go to Longwood Gardens and Winterthur. It was very quick and easy to get to both. The apartment was lovely and the owners were very thoughtful about every detail!

Well-appointed suite

Cheryl and Don’s guest suite was perfect for a short stay exploring all that is offered by the Brandywine Valley. Although the suite does not have a kitchen, the mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker were perfect for our needs. The unit had many thoughtful touches, including bathrobes, extra toiletries, and small snacks. Muffins and coffee cream were provided for our first morning. The bed was comfortably made up and of medium firmness. Our hosts were very easy to work with and we never heard them (the unit is attached to their home through a locked door). We would definitely consider staying with them again.

Superlative Suite

This was our second stay in Cheryl & Don's lovely suite. The amenities are first class - our hosts are extremely thoughtful. Everything you could possibly imagine - coffee, creamer, tea, snacks, breakfast muffins - are available. A lovely experience! Of all our experiences staying in the Brandywine Valley, this is the best! Looking forward to returning again!

This is a suite in the side of the owners’ home. The bedroom is large and nicely furnished. The adjoining bathroom and shower were perfect for us. The sitting room had two comfy armchairs, desk and tv in an entertainment center. Didn’t miss a kitchen at all. Best Keurig machine ever, microwave, and small refrigerator. Salt and pepper, paper plates and silverware, cream in the refrigerator for coffee or tea. The best was finding the Martin’s card welcoming us, muffins and cookies and hard boiled eggs for our breakfast. So many great attractions nearby!

Lovely space

As in all previous reviews , the apartment is not only meticulous but beautifully designed. It was the perfect location for our side trips to New Castle and Brandywine Art Museum as well as Penns Wood Winery for relaxing at the end of the day. Our only heads up is if you are planning to have meals take note there is only a microwave and small fridge and use of table trays. I know most people dine out at night so it would not be an issue. We tend to eat lunch out and have light dinner. We easily adapted by grabbing something from nearby to bring back. Oh and cookies and blueberry coffee cake were waiting for us upon arrival. If you want to enjoy a glass of wine outside, go to the patio outback and it felt like sitting in a peaceful winery. Excellent communication and flexibility with working with our change of dates.

We loved our stay here. Cheryl and Don are gracious hosts and left special touches like muffins and hard boiled eggs for our first breakfast. The area was located in a great area with easy access to many great historic sites. I would love to stay here again and do another visit to the Longwood Gardens.

We had a wonderful stay at this property while attending the University of Delaware football game. The drive to the stadium was about 20 minutes with traffic, which was very convenient. The hosts were AMAZING and incredibly accommodating, making our visit smooth and comfortable. The location is excellent, with outstanding restaurants, a movie theater, and a mall just minutes away. Highly recommend this property for anyone visiting the Wilmington area!

Delaware has always been home to Cheryl. Her adventuresome spirit though is quick to lead her off the beaten path. Whenever opportunity arises, she is ready to go. She readily keeps a small bag packed with the bare essentials at all times. Cheryl has always juggled her love for the water with her love for the mountains. As an active member of Fleet 106 for many years, she crewed for HOBIE 16's and 18's in regattas up and down the east coast and on the national circuit. Her love for alpine skiing lead her to becoming a ski coach and instructor for 12 years in Killington, VT. Cheryl is always dishing up some of her fantastic gourmet recipes for her family and friends and eagerly shares her tried and true techniques with anyone willing to share a glass of good wine and stay in the kitchen with her as her sous chef. Her love of fine food and teaching lead her to enrolling in cooking school and eventually teaching and directing her own school, La Chapelle. Cheryl's professional background is in Nursing with a focus in Pediatrics and Home Health Care. She is outgoing, engaging and comfortable with all kinds of people and looks forward to sharing her interests and home with you.
Don's passion for music lead him to a career in Music Education. He served in the Delaware National Guard 287th Army Band for 6 years. As an accomplished jazz musician, he was asked to lead the Brandywine Blazer Jazz Band and accompanied them on a good will tour through central Europe. Over the years he has had the privilege of performing in many nationally known big bands, the likes of Bob Crosby, Guy Lombardo and Tex Beneke, the original Glenn Miller Band. Don loves a good conversation, gardening and live theatre.We enjoy sharing our home with others and meeting new people. As lifelong residents of the area, we can provide you with suggestions for "what to see & where to go" while you enjoy your stay in our home.
