Welcome to our traditional Andalusian white village house, nestled at the foot of La Guardia Castle in Jaén. Although the entrance is unassuming, the house offers 180 m² spread over three floors.
The Zumbajarros Country House had been the home of my maternal great-great-grandparents. My grandfather and my mother were both born there. All the villagers have fond memories of my family.
The house had been uninhabited for more than 20 years, and in July 2021 we decided to breathe new life into it by updating the facilities, reinforcing the structures, restoring the rooms, and modernising it with all the amenities we’re accustomed to—amenities that allow travellers to feel right at home, so much so that they won’t want to leave.
In addition to modernising and making all the rooms comfortable, we’ve become energy-conscious by installing solar panels on the traditional tiled roof and a biomass boiler with a converter that allows us to use renewable energy throughout the property.
The house offers beautiful views from both sides, as it is located in the highest part of the village, where the view is unobstructed by nearby buildings.
It has 3 double bedrooms, all with their own full private bathroom inside the room. It also features a quadruple suite, divided into two sections by an open wall under the roof. This suite has a terrace overlooking Zumbajarros Street, from which you can see the village.
The ground floor features four common areas where guests can watch TV, enjoy evenings by the fire, and relax in a beautiful, spacious kitchen and open dining area.
Also, in the entryway, next to the guest bathroom, there is a bike parking area (complete with electrical sockets)—a common activity in the area.
The courtyard features a lovely pool where you can enjoy views of the olive grove. It also has a barbecue and another chill-out area.
While in the summer you can enjoy the pool, in the winter the kitchen has a biomass boiler—whose mesmerising flames distribute heat throughout every room in the house. And there’s also a fireplace in what used to be the living room.
We’ve decorated the space so you can have an unforgettable stay in what will be your home for as long as you choose. Perfect for a holiday with family or friends, where you can enjoy privacy, in your bedroom as well as in the shared areas—which are spacious enough for you to spread out across different rooms and do different things, or to all be together and enjoy wonderful moments sharing smiles and memories.
It was our family home, and now it will be yours too; we’re delighted to share our home with you so you can create your own memories, just as we have from all the summers we spent there.
I’m sure you won’t want to leave.
