About this property

GOOSE COTTAGE - a charming rural cottage near the banks of Whiteadder River

A charming cottage named in honour of the local residents who amble around this rural setting.

Set on a working farm near the banks of Whiteadder River, this country cottage offers comfort and elegance in equal measure

Built from traditional stone and set on a working farm, complete with white geese pottering around the garden, Goose Cottage is the epitome of rural charm. Yet it also boasts elegant, spacious interiors and fabulous contemporary bathrooms, making it the perfect option for families without compromise on sophisticated design.

Guests reach Goose Cottage by following a long, tree-lined road flanked by farmland. Stepping into this homely stone cottage, they first discover the welcoming sitting room, whose restrained colour palette places the focus on a pretty portrait of a white goose and the wood-burning stove set beneath a custom-made Lime timber mantel, repurposed from a wind-felled tree on the farm. A separate snug, which also features a wood burner and large L-shaped leather sofa, is the perfect spot for relaxed family evenings, or for settling the children in front of the television while the adults enjoy the peace of the elegant sitting room.

A large kitchen with inky blue units and an electric range cooker shares a light-filled room with the dining area, which features a rustic-chic wooden dining table for six and leads out into the enclosed garden for easy al fresco dining. The garden bounds onto the surrounding farmland and the owners of Goose Cottage will happily show guests around their working farm, introducing them to the resident horses, lambs and chickens, not forgetting those curious white geese of course!

The ground floor, which is warmed entirely by underfloor heating, further boasts an impressive wet room, encased in stone tiles with a rainforest shower and separate basin and loo.

Moving upstairs, there's a stylish family bathroom with crisp white tiles and slate grey units and three bedrooms. Each set under the cottage's sloping eaves, there's a master bedroom with a king-size bed, a pretty twin bedroom, and a children's bedroom with a bunk bed and pull-out truckle bed. Youngsters will love the delightful children's reading nook and play area on the hallway here, complete with a fur rug and bean bags.

Ideally placed to explore the nearby towns of Berwick-upon-Tweed and Kelso, Goose Cottage also offers plenty in the way of doorstep entertainment. There's the farm to explore (although please note children must be supervised when adventuring outside of the enclosed garden); strolls, fishing and picnics on the banks of Whiteadder river; and country walks and bicycle rides starting from the farm.
