About this property

Ardullie Lodge is a unique and historic place to stay in the north of Scotland.

Ardullie Lodge is a unique and historic place to stay in the north of Scotland. If The Queen Mother chose to stop here en route to The Castle of Mey, you should too.. The Bungalow is tucked away in the northern Highlands of Scotland and set in the grounds of Grade II listed Ardullie Lodge. The lodge dates back to the 17th century and has had many fascinating and well-connected owners in its time. It was visited for many years by the Queen Mother for lunch on her way up to stay at the Castle of Mey in Caithness.

The NC500 crosses the Cromarty Bridge and when heading north over the bridge you spot an amazing, attractive building on the hillside ahead of you. This is the amazing Ardullie Lodge. From the bridge you turn left and then head on up the tree-lined driveway to the lodge and its surrounding outbuildings, of which one is The Bungalow. Park up by The Bungalow and you’ll no doubt want to first explore the accommodation as it’s a characterful detached property in the grounds of Ardullie Lodge. Once upon time in fact it was the billiard room for the lodge. Now though it has been lovingly renovated by the owner to a great standard of holiday accommodation. There’s a great open-plan kitchen/dining/living room that enjoys the benefit of a wood burner and Smart TV. It’s a lovely space to relax and recharge in after days out exploring the local area. Also, there is a super kingsize double bed that on request can be a twin, and finally a great shower room with walk-in shower and heated towel rail.

Outside The Bungalow there is a small enclosed private garden as well as grounds that you are free to explore. Dogs though must be on a lead when not in the enclosed garden. The Ardullie grounds are full of old, gigantic trees including possibly the largest Wellingtonia/Giant Redwood in Scotland and mature gardens that are filled with flowers, vegetables and fruits. There are rare breed chickens and geese roaming around the grounds during the day, and there are almost always friendly sheep in the paddocks too.

You’re welcome to explore the grounds till your heart’s content and find nice spots to sit down and relax. From many places in the grounds there are sea views out over the Cromarty Firth. It’s a truly magical spot and one you won’t want to venture far from during your stay. However, with the NC500 only a minute away it is recommended you do get in the car and tour the area to discover some of the amazing local places. You can be over in the Black Isle in 3 minutes and enjoying the beaches at Rosemarkie or Cromarty in 20 minutes. Inverness and mighty Loch Ness are only 20 and 30 minutes away respectively. And lovely Dornoch is only 40 minutes up the road to the north.

The west coast is surprisingly near too, you can be in Ullapool in under an hour and be exploring the Isle of Skye or Applecross in under 90 minutes. In short, The Bungalow is the perfect place to stay with a truly lovely host, y ou’ll have a fantastic holiday and you’ll get to see some of the best of Scotland. The Garden Flat Ardullie is another property at Ardullie Lodge that will become available from Autumn 2022.

The Bungalow can be booked together with The Garden Flat Ardullie (ref UK39846) to accommodate up to 6 guests.. 2 steps to entrance.
