Welcome to the Artist’s house, a cosy 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom vacation rental apartment with an excellent location, right inside the historical center of Lucca, but just few steps away from the parking lots.
The apartment is situated in a little street near the charming Via San Paolino, a short walk from San Michele Romanesque Church and from several attractions, museums, restaurants, groceries, wine shops and cafes.
It is on the 1st floor (16 steps from the building entrance) which makes it ideal for elderlies and guests with mobility restrictions.
The flat has a habitable surface of 85 sq.mt, the layout is leveled: entrance/ living – room, bathroom (shower), twin bedroom, master bedroom; dining- room and fully equipped kitchen with washing machine. There is not elevator
Ideal for 4 people, it can accommodate up to a maximum of 6 guests, using the sofa bed in the living room. Please note that there is not much space left in the living-room when the sofa bed is open. The size of the bathroom is small, ideal for one person at a time and to access it you have to go through the living room.
The property is located in the ZTL zone, which means a “limited traffic zone” and you can’t reach it by car. The nearest parking areas are less then 1 minute walking distance from the entrance of the building.
The bus station is 3 minutes walking distance and Lucca train station is about 15 minutes.
Due to its geographical position, the Artist’s house is a good base for visiting the most famous cultural centers of Tuscany, like: Lucca, Pisa, Firenze, San Gimignano, Volterra and other important cities of art are within easy car reach.
The main seaside resorts like: Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi, Lido di Camaiore, Marina di Vecchiano and Torre del Lago are about 30 kilometres from the property.
Below you will find some information about the artist who lived in the house, Mario Menicucci, most of the paintings in the property were painted by him.
Born in 1937 Mario Menicucci began in his twenties to express his love for painting. His first paintings are figurative ones that immortalize glimpses of the city, of the towns of the Garfagnana and of Viareggio coast. Over time, the brushstrokes become more and more charged with his emotionality and personality and his paintings gradually arrive at an expressionist style that will then flow into pure abstractionism. Together with his artist friends Antonio Possenti, Gaetano Luporini and Riccardo Benvenuti formed an entourage that was the most vivid expression of the Lucca creativity of the fifties and sixties. His paintings have been exhibited in various exhibition galleries, local competitions in Tuscany, and at the Galleria Nazionale in Rome.
