Charming Town House + Terraced Garden with fine views
The house is on the edge of Le Bugue, overlooking the river Vezere. Only a 6 or 7 minute walk beside the river to the centre of the village. It has been tastefully renovated and furnished to maintain its original character. There is a cliff-top terraced garden accessed by a spiral staircase from the top floor of the house. It has a BBQ on the main terrace and beautiful views across the valley as well as of the Vezere and the town. There is also a balcony at the front of the house overlooking the river. The kitchen and salon, both upstairs on the first floor, open on to the balcony through charming double doors. Bedrooms and the main bathroom are on the second floor.
There are many countryside walks round about and good swimming at beaches on the Dordogne in nearby Limeuil, 10 minutes drive away, or at the public swimming pool in Audrix. Tony provides a leaflet with walks from the house and beaches on the river good for swimming. Electric bikes can be hired in the town for rides along the riverside cycle tracks to Les Eyzies and Limeuil, and through the glorious local countryside. There is a wide collection of books in French and English as well as a range of DVDs and CDs. Fluent French and English spoken by property manager.

We stayed at this wonderful home for 2-weeks and enjoyed everything the house and town had to offer. Patrick greeted us when we arrived, gave us information on house operations and provided insight on local restaurants, farmer's market, shops and other typical travel needs. We loved the house and highly recommend this rental to anyone traveling in the area.
Great little house. Very comfortable. Lovely garden although our weather meant we couldn’t use it as much as we would have liked. Perfect for visiting local attractions.

Holiday in La Bugue
Check in and Countach was excellent. Unfortunately the appartment was directly at a small street. This street was a thoroughfare street used by Trucks and construction vehicules passing about 2 meters in Front of the balcony.

I'm sorry you were disturbed by noisy trucks, especially as you say, while on the front balcony. Being on a road which goes to and from rural villages outside of Le Bugue (while not a major route to anywhere), large trucks do pass by from time to time during the working day, conveying agricultural goods and even sometimes heavy machinery. They can be noisy as they pass the front of the house, but they aren't heard on the terrace behind the house where guests can get peace and quiet.
Nice place, but shower is hand-held, big bed is very (too) soft, TV didn't work, and hot water was uneven. Kitchen was serviceable but few basic supplies (eg, no vinegar).
Traditional French house in an attractive small town with uninterrupted views of river from first floor balcony and upper garden area. House is within 5 minutes walk of town centre with its markets on Tuesday (highly recommended) and Saturday . Location very good for local sightseeing to villages, caves and other tourist attractions as well as easy access to large supermarkets.
House is well furnished and spacious. However, house is on 3 levels with stairs and access to garden is by a spiral staircase, so not suitable for guests with mobility issues or young children. At time of visit owner was in process of setting up an internet connection and purchasing a replacement TV/DVD player with larger screen. Facilities include washing machine and microwave/grill cooker as well as BBQ in garden.

About the host
Hosted by Tony Lister
Tony is a retired engineer whose main residence is in London. He spends the months outside the holiday season at his house here in Le Bugue. He bought the property in 2018 and has enjoyed renovating the house and the garden. In fact he has transformed the garden, adding the BBQ terrace and spiral stair access. He loves going on bike rides in the beautiful countryside all around Le Bugue.
What makes this property unique
What is unique about this house is its proximity to town and countryside. A footpath accessed less than 100 metres up the road from the house is a gateway to several different routes for rambling. Routes starting from this path up the hillside can bring the hiker back into Le Bugue from any one of three directions!
This property is ideal for a couple who enjoy country walks as well as having the amenities of the town such as cafes, restaurants and farmers' market twice a week. And, of course, Le Bugue is an ideal base for exploring the historic and beautiful surrounding area.
