Region: The Home Counties comprise the counties that surround London and include Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Middlesex. Although mostly built up, they include some fabulous scenery and attractions which are well worth a visit.

Town: Located between Oxford and Aylesbury, the charming market town of Thame stands out as a must-see in Oxfordshire. Located on the River Thame, this beautiful community is famous for the 1137-founded Thame Abbey, which was subsequently destroyed in 1539 as part of the Reformation's dissolution of the monasteries. The town now has many shops and pubs, such as The Six Bells, The James Figg, and The Black horse, all of which offer a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and tasty pub fare, perfect for special occasions or nights when you just don't feel like cooking for your loved ones. It is also the starting point for the Phoenix Trail, a five-mile path connecting Thame and Princes Risborough that is popular among hikers and cyclists because of the beautiful scenery of the surrounding countryside and the nearby Chiltern Hills. In the nearby city of Oxford, history buffs can visit world-renowned institutions like the Ashmolean Museum, The Story Museum, and the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. Thame is a great starting point for excursions throughout Oxfordshire.

Minimalistic - clean and comfortable for the price
Thanks to the owner for the fresh flowers and for sending the floor mats and batteries for the tv control. We have stayed before and had requested an iron but management said owner does not provide an iron. It is very inconvenient to travel with family and not find an iron or a hair dryer. Even the cheapest hotels provide them. I own three properties and rent them as well. I always want my guests to leave my property happier that when they checked in. Your place is functional but lacks a few small details that are very easy and inexpensive to fix. Here are our humble suggestions: -We arrived late and the cottage was cold. My husband spent a long time trying to get them to work. We were told owner has them on a timer. Some instructions might have saved us some time. - Please check your appliances, tv, controls, etc., before a guest checks in. As an owner I always try to spend a couple of days in the unit and pretend I am the tenant making sure things work. We had no tv for two days. We guessed it was the batteries in the control. It was indeed. - The main bathroom is lacking a mirror. There is a tiny one in the bathroom downstairs. It is inconvenient when a guy needs to shave. - Also would be nice to have hooks to hang clothes in the bathroom. We do love the warm towel rack. - Please place some hooks to hang jackets downstairs. - There is no mixer to make a cake. - Pots are missing lids. - There is only a small skillet. One more, larger, would be useful.

Quiet, classic small country town feel
Quiet, clean, nicely apportioned. It was our place to just relax and rest from our long days of visiting family and sightseeing. Short walk to a nice breakfast pub. Even this little village is worth some strolling time. A user guide would have helped, as we never were able to connect to the internet. Back-and-forth emails via the property manager…to the owner…and back, were “itinerary items” we could have done without. A clothes iron would have been a big plus. Even vacation clothing needs some TLC when the items have been transported in my roll-a-board suitcase. Parking - just have to use your imagination in this typically-small country village. It was part of the fun. Overall - simple, clean, quiet refuge.
