Am Bruadar is a delightful holiday home in a peaceful location between Dalmally and Loch Awe overlooking Ben Cruachan, the highest mountain in Argyll, which dominates the landscape.
The property offers plenty of living and entertaining space, as well as a fully enclosed rear garden. Downstairs the spacious living/dining area is open plan, opening onto a well-equipped kitchen with adjacent utility room. Easily accessible for those with limited mobility, with an entrance ramp and wider doors, there is a single and double bedroom with en-suite shower room on the ground floor.
Upstairs is a large en-suite master bedroom with super king bed, with a balcony where you can enjoy views towards magnificent Ben Cruachan, as well as a twin room and a single room served by the master bathroom with large deep bath and shower.
Railway enthusiasts will be delighted to know that at the rear of the house is a single railway track that serves the Oban to Glasgow route, and occasional special trains. It is a very low volume track with only a handful of two carriage trains that trundle slowly past. The enclosed rear garden is secure from the railway track by a security fence that stops any access to the track.
The house is just two minutes from Dalmally village centre which has a village store, post office, doctors’ surgery, railway station with adjacent craft shop, and a golf course. Dalmally is ideally placed for exploring the impressive mountains of Ben Lui and Ben Cruachan, and it is very close to beautiful Glen Orchy and the road which leads to Bridge of Orchy. There are many local forest walks locally and there is excellent fishing on the River Orchy.
The whole area is full of historic castles and churches, close to the village and well worth visiting is Glen Orchy Church which is of unusual octagonal architecture as well as monument on the mountainside, dedicated to Duncan Ban MacIntyre – the celebrated 18th Century Gaelic poet. Just 5 minutes’ drive is the small inland loch-side village of Loch Awe, which is well served by a general store and post office, a hotel, and a newly refurbished inn. Loch Awe is Scotland longest freshwater loch and has superb fishing, enchanted islands, and deserted castles to explore. Loch Awe has a number of beautiful attractions to visit including the stunning Kilchurn Castle, St Conan’s Kirk and Cruachan Visitor Centre, all within a 5 minutes’ drive.
Nature lovers will be spoilt for choice with many Nature and Forestry reserves offering walking and cycling routes, all available locally. This part of Argyll has miles of unspoilt countryside with fantastic mountain, woodland, and coastal walks to enjoy. With Oban, the Gateway to the Isles and Inveraray, the home of the Duke of Argyll, both just a 30 minutes’ drive, there is plenty to explore. Oban gives you access supermarkets, ferry terminal, shops, cafes, restaurants and has a cinema, leisure centre and Oban whisky distillery. Glasgow Airport and the cities of the central belt are within reasonably easy reach.
