Great stay

We spent our 2 week Costa Rican vacation here, and loved every minute of it. The place is well located, just a short drive to many beaches, and is very comfortable with a full kitchen, and even a washer/dryer! Pretty much whatever you need to feel like you are at home. Beautiful views, comfortable furnishings, a wonderful balcony, and plenty of space. The owner is very accommodating, quick to respond, and sounds like a nice , and caring person. Thanks Mark, you are a great host. If we are in this area of Costa Rica, we knew where to stay! Diana/Michael

Our first visit

Everything was great, landlord came over and welcomed us once we arrived. Went to Adventure Park for a day. zip line, rafting, horseback riding, and hot springs.Went to 4 different beaches. A bad 4 1/2 kilometer gravel and rocky road from main artery every day in and out. Restaurant and food was great. Had a flat tire and maintenance man changed tire for me. Made back to Alamo and they repaired tire.

Great vacation

Just spent 5 days at this condo and had a great stay. The rooms were well sized, great access to playa Conchal, Tamarindo and other great beaches. The restaurant at condor was not very good. Food was over-priced and didn’t compare to food in Tamarindo. Still had a terrific stay and would stay here again in a heartbeat. Pura Vida!

Good value, great beach access

Overall, very enjoyable visit, and would consider staying at Condor Lodge property again. Mark (owner) met with us during our first hours to welcome us to the property and offered advice on beach access and routes. Very pleasant and responsive to questions had prior to the visit. Here are pros and cons for future visitors to help make an informed decision: Pros: Unit as described; I felt beach access was terrific (either a ten minute walk down a "private" gravel road, or a two minute car drive (will need to pay $4 to park at the beach)); restaurant on-site was good and fairly priced; pool area was good (but I wasn't comfortable staying there as there was a significant bee hive in the ground of the pool peninsula...didn't get stung, but hundreds of bees flew past us while we were sitting there. If we had kids, we wouldn't have let them play anywhere close to that); unit/complex was quiet; good view of the ocean/hills (but if you want a sunset view, I don't think you'll get it (certainly not in April); Mark has items for your use (beach towels/chairs, snorkel gear, coolers, kayak, surf board)...those are all great touches; good wi-fi, but hopefully you're not using it much. Possible cons (not much for us, but for some I'm sure): Rough ride in on gravel road (about 10-12 minutes your first trip in, then we got it down to about six once we were comfortable with where we were going); unit is a little dated, but still in good condition; a $100 investment into new towels could go a long way; the bees at the pool as noted above; if you're in poor physical health, maybe not the best unit (3rd level) and beach access you'd need a car for sure; if you're expecting on-site security or gated access, don't expect it. We never saw a guard, and while there was a gate, it was always in the up positition. That being said, we always felt safe/secure. Overall, a very good experience. If you're looking for high-end, maybe not the unit for you. We're always grateful for our yearly visit to Costa Rica, and this experience/rental was supportive of that notion. Thank you Mark for allowing us to rent your condo and for being a responsive host.

Construction was in progress the entire 3 and 1/2 weeks we were there.

Construction was in progress the entire 3 and 1/2 weeks we were there. The unit next to us was completed replaced from floor to ceiling - the noise was awful. To rent this villa out was disgraceful. The owner had an agent on the property, Jolly Harbour. When we moved in we were not told that the unit adjacent was under construction. We were reassured by the owner and the agent that the remainder of the work would be completed within a few days. 24 days later it is nosier than it was when we moved in. The marble tile cutting, electric sawing was done mostly on the deck that was separated from our unit by a short 5 foot wall that only extended out a few feet. I could go on and on about the lack of privacy and the debris from the work on our deck etc. I only wish that I had a recorder that could be used by the owner when he takes his wife on a special vacation. Our stay was perfect!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The condo is very roomy and well laid out. We loved the large balcony and really liked having a telescope to view the lovely and lively natural surroundings along with the gorgeous yaught anchored in the bay. The pool has a beautiful view and we ate at the restaurant on location almost every day. There are two of the most beautiful uncrowded beaches I have ever seen a short drive down the road. Mark was very helpful and gave us lots of great information that helped to make our stay special. He was also kind enough to offer an extra days accommodation when we thought me might have to stay longer. Lisa H. - Ridgefield, WA

Can't wait to return!

We absolutely loved staying here for a week. The condo, lodge, pool, and restaurant were so nice to return "home" to after a great day at a local beach or other adventure. Plus, the view, the staff, and the closeness to real Costa Rica were outstanding. This is a great place to stay if you really want to experience Guanacaste beaches, food, culture, and nature.

Could be better

We stayed on Conchal in 2015, and were excited to return to the area. The Condor Lodge condo location is perfect, and Mark helped us discover another quiet, beautiful beach. The condo is well situated with the unquestionably the best view in the area. We enjoyed many mornings and late afternoons on the balcony. The restaurant is good, and convenient at times as alternatives all require a gravel road or 4WD adventure. The condo has all the basics, but lacks in three key areas. The first is cleanliness. The second is the condition of the towels. The third is a finicky hot water system with uneven pressure. All in all, we had a good stay, but it could have been a great stay with more attention to detail including new linens, and a thorough, professional cleaning.

The condo at condor Hights had great views.

First let me start by saying Ruth and I are owners of 7 vacation homes, and pride ourselfs of offering our guest good clean homes and make our check in easy. We arrivals right at 2 PM the time we were emailed that we could check in. When we check in at Condor Heights the man at the reception office had our reservation but didn't know we had paid already and which home we were renting. I had to show him that our payment was made thru VRBO and he was still confused. We knew it was a third floor unit but he told us that all the units on the third floor were rented. So he put us on the second floor in the building next to the office/restaurants That unit was spotless well equipped and clean. We move in with all our belongings and went to lunch. At lunch I sent an email to the owner that we had made the reservation with on VRBO and told him we are not in his Unit and which unit we were in, and then went to the beach for the afternoon. When we returned at 7 PM there was a card in the door and what unit we were to move to and that the owner was waiting for us. When I went there He told me he was there all day waiting for us and that he had sent me the Unit number in an email. I showed him all the mails from VRBO and there was no email telling us where to go when we get to Condor Heights. He was also drinking beer all day as well as when I was talking with hm he left 3 empty beer bottles in the kitchen and towels in the dryer. He told me he live in the unit and when he rents it he moves in with his girlfriend. The condo was not clean as would be typical of the homes in Costa Rica. Also one night doing dishes the water heater pressure relief vale under the counter opened when we informed the owner he said it had happened before didn't seem to care. We have rented In Condor Heights before so we will not be going back to this unit.

Conchal Costa Rica Condo

Simply beautiful!! Obviously this applies to much in Costa Rica but this condo is just that - simply beautiful. The view is breathtaking !!! The restaurant within the complex (about a 30 second walk from the condo) proved to be excellent and we probably ate almost half of our meals there. The beaches and the area are simply beautiful!! We have stayed here our last 3 trips to CR, so that attests to how much we like it. Undoubtedly the most beautiful beaches and views I've ever seen. This past trip we visited a wider variety of beaches - Pirates, Grande, and Tamarindo. They are great but it's hard to beat Conchal. Extremely private and peaceful - you can be around people only when you want to be around people - like you have the beach all to yourself! We were very impressed with the level of security - within the complex, on the beaches, and in the local towns (Brasilito and Conchal). While security officers were never intrusive and definitely in the background, it added to our peace and contentment to know they were always close. If you want nightlife, parties, people, traffic, and commercialization, this is probably not your place. If you want natural beauty, the most beautiful uncrowded beaches in the world, nature, extremely private and peaceful settings, a condo view and constant other views that could be on postcards, privacy, serenity, and the best "bang for your buck" I've ever found, then this is as good as it gets. We already plan to return next year!

Great condo with excellent facilities near Playa Conchal

A well supplied condo with excellent kitchen facilities, comfortable beds and a deck with a hammock and a beautiful view. We loved the 10 minute walk to the less populated part of Playa Conchal, a great swimming beach.

Great condo near beautiful beaches

This is a wonderful condo with a great view over Playa Conchal and the Flamingo Bay area. Near the condo we saw condors flying and a lot of howler monkeys. There is a beautiful beach adjoining Playa Conchal that is a short walk from the condo. The restaurant at that beach is run by a local family and provides excellent typical costa rican food, smoothies, and beer for a reasonable price (cash only). There are a couple other beaches a very short drive from the condo that are excellent and pretty quiet, plus if you want to drive a little longer you can get to Playa Grande, Tamarindo, or Flamingo easily. In other words, this condo is in a great location to have access to many of the best beaches in Costa Rica. As for the Condor Hotel itself, where the condo is located, I really liked it. There is a very good restaurant and pool right next to the building where you have a wonderful view. The wood fired pizza oven is just as good as people will tell you, try it out! Mark's condo is well equipped for cooking or just relaxing, and we all really enjoyed it. Since I have to work a lot when I travel, it was also nice that the condo has good internet. We were able to have video based skype calls back to the US with no problems. We had our dog with us, and so it was also great to find such a nice place that also allows pets. We are excited to go back sometime!

Great condo with a wonderful view

We loved Mark's condo. It's outfitted perfectly, it matches the description very well, and the hotel condor that it's a part of is wonderful. We had a great view out to Flamingo bay and Playa Conchal from the balcony. The telescope is a great addition. The condo is very comfortable, and we were able to easily cook meals, relax, and work over the internet there. The hotel restaurant is very good and the staff are very friendly. The wood fired pizza oven is great, the pool is beautiful. The dirts roads into the hotel are typical Costa Rica bumpy but make sure you keep your eyes open for monkeys in the trees, we saw a lot of them. It's a short walk to one beach, on the same bay as Conchal. There is a nice local restaurant there on the beach (cash only) where typical Costa Rica food is served along with smoothies and a bar. Several other excellent beaches are a short drive from the hotel, and then of course you can drive just a bit farther to Playa Flamingo or Playa Tamarindo. It's a great area and we would definitely like to return in the future!

Fantastic Stay in Paradise

Not only was Mark very easy to work with, his tastes in decor and choice of location couldn't be better. My fiance and I stayed in this condo in February of 2011, and let me tell you, it was the perfect end to our trip. The beach is just moments away, and we felt like we had an entire stretch to ourselves. Just gorgeous. We met some really nice locals down the way, as well, and spent some time laughing and enjoying Costa Rica's finest coffee with them on several occassions. As for the condo, it was just perfect. The bed was comfy, the amenities were in great condition, and again, the decor was subtle and tasteful. We spent time on the lanai every evening; as a matter of fact, I proposed to my fiance in the hammock! Thanks for a fantastic experience, Mark. If you are reading this, you've stumbled upon the best condo in the complex, hands down. PURA VIDA!!

I'll be back

I visited Mark's condo in September 2010. It was my first visit to Costa Rica. Everyone I have talked to about Costa Rica has said they have had a positive experiance so, it was my turn to discover for myself. The condo was clean and came with everything you my need. There is not a 7-11 down the block so have your snacks and supplies there with you. You are pretty much in the middle of the jungle with a awsome view of the ocean. The time of the year I was there is the end of the rainy season. We did not have any more rain then you would expect in the tropics. In the evenings this it made for some awsome lightning shows ! This place is alive, its not a condo most tourist stay at. They stay in town where you hear cars and nightclubs. If you want this its not that far away and can be fun. Where the condo is, you wake up to the sound of nature. One day I heard a comotion outside and go out to see at least 300 parrots in the tree right there and watched them for half an hour. This was my exploritory trip. I went swimming, surfing, ate at some really cool restruants, took a drive down the coast. We did a group trip to Nicaragua, there was 6 of us on this adventure. I would recomend this trip, it was fun and informitive about the region and history where we were. I was expecting a south american type country. To my suprise it hade a real Caribbean look and feel to it. It is clean, safe, (just don't be dumb) the people are beautiful. We we coming back from suffing Playa Grande one day and there was a local kid hitching a ride. He had missed his bus and was headed to work in Tamarindo. I knew just by the vibe of the area this was fine. He was a nice guy and welcomed us. I went for, I think 8 days. Next time I know I'll need at least 2 weeks. Now I know why Mark goes for months at a time. We had a great time and I wasn't ready to leave when the time came to go. I could go on for ever. If you're thinking about going, Go ! I'll be back....
