The cabin is in the most peaceful and quiet setting on the banks of a lake with mountains in the background. There was a wonderful blue heron that entertained us with his cunning/fishing. We met the owner and she was very friendly and welcoming.
It's a very beautiful property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We ended up in "Deer's Leap" instead of "Elk's Run" but it was right next door. The layout of the cabin is what we expected, my biggest complaint about Deer's Leap are the INCREDIBLY HARD beds. It was so bad that we went to Kalispell to get a mattress pad. Sleeping on the floor would've been comparable to sleeping on the bed. Our kids chose to sleep on the recliner and the couch after the first night. Bring your own pots and pans. The items in the cabin are very scratched/peeling teflon. We bought a cast iron pan from the Merc up the road. Communication with the hosts was fine, they answered our questions quickly and politely. There was no where to stow away our clothes, like a dresser or wardrobe, for 5 days so they were basicslly strewn about the cabin while we were there. It was an amazing stay overall and we would stay again.
Beautiful area. We enjoyed a family weekend getaway, did some paddle boating, walked the dogs, played games, sat by the campfire. So relaxing and fun family time. The cabin had everything we needed and the beds were comfy!
We had a wonderful time at the cabin! It was warm, comfortable and we were provided everything we needed for our 2 night stay. The pond was frozen and we enjoyed skiing and walking around the property. The listing was just as shown on the web and the directions were easy to follow. Definitely recommend 4 wheel drive vehicle in the wimter season. Thank you!
The cabin was somewhat Spartan but had nearly everything we needed. They were some nice updates to it like the reclaimed wood and rustic metal decor. The view was incredible with big Swan Mountain range views and with a small deck overlooking a 7 acre lake. Only negatives: the shower was a bit small, the deck needs some work and the lake with all of the growth in it was a bit depressing... But all in all a nice getaway for a couple on a budget. The positives far outweigh any negatives. Plus the Smith family was very helpful and when you are in an area you are unfamiliar with that can be invaluable.
This place is all you need if you are looking for a no-frills "unplugged" experience in a beautiful, quiet location overlooking a sweet pond. The kitchen is set up for camping-style preparations, so if you have any specific needs--like a big pot and a ladle, etc--best to bring it. Also a Swiss army knife with a can opener on it will come in handy, as would a sleeping bag or extra blanket for cool evenings. Very nice owners, and easy checkout.
We loved the quiet, peaceful, and scenic setting of the cabin. The owners were fantastic and the location was convenient to the Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park.
This was so relaxing and beautiful. The cabins are cute, spacious, and clean! Views are out of this world. We will be back! Thank you for sharing such a special place.
Excellence way to unplug but with all the necessary amenities
Nice cabin with all the amenities (just bring food), in the quiet mountains, next to a beautiful pond, enjoy the creatures, peddle boats and kayaks available, fishing, near other major lakes, hiking...met the owner and she was very friendly and accommodating.
This cabin was as advertised- rustic and off a dirt road. So quiet and peaceful, but just a touch of personality/decor and a few more cooking amenities could have made it really awesome. We enjoyed our time here nonetheless. Didn't interact with the host or any other guests in the area. Didn't see any goats on the island as some other reviewers mentioned. Lovely area - we recommend Holland Lake, Holland Falls hike and maybe Cold Lake hike too.
Our family enjoyed our time at this cabin! We were “unplugged”, but comfortable!

This place is a hidden gem! Backed up against the Bob Marshall Wilderness, was a winter wonderland!
The accommodations were spot on in their descriptions. This is not a fancy place, but very clean and comfortable. It’s all about location!

Rustic Cabin
This cabin was wonderful! It was just as described, a rustic cabin. The cabin had everything we needed including a wonderful view of the lake and mountains. The cabin provided the rustic escape we were looking for on our trip. The cabin is pet friendly which is a big plus for us and the dogs had plenty of room to explore outside. Again the cabin was great and well constructed, it was cool in the warm days and just cool enough during the nights. We even took advantage of the row boat and paddled around the lake a few afternoons. This is a great place if you want to relax all day or just use it as a place to sleep at night. Its perfect for any trip.

A picturesque getaway from it all.
A perfect place to disconnect from the unnecessary! Don’t let the driveway scare you away, the gem at the end is worth it. Leave your devices untouched and enjoy the beauty right at your fingertips. The kids loved paddling the lake and visiting the resident sheep on the island. Rustic but sufficient! We would definitely recommend it!

Awesome location. Really met our expectations for a winter getaway!
Nestled deep in the snowy woods, this cabin was still easy to get to and warm throughout our stay. Tucked in the trees overlooking a pond, this was winter at it's best! The owners prepared the cabin with treats and decorations, making us feel very welcome. Look forward to returning.

Awesome stay at beautiful cabin nestled in trees next to pond!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Barbara and Michael's cabin! It is a very peaceful setting at the end of a mile long dirt road, with only a couple of other cabins around (nobody was in them, but I'd expect it to be quite private with others around). The cabin is great inside--nice kitchen and bathroom with a super shower. Our kids enjoyed the loft very much. We loved watching wildlife in the pond and petting the sheep that were "mowing" the island in the pond. Easy access to hikes in the Swan Valley. Everyone wanted to stay longer, but alas, we had to move on.
