About this property

Country cottage for 4 with large swimming pool in Sierra Nevada National park.

We do not accept any guest who has been recognised by ICC as being part of any Genocide or supporting one in the world.

This is one of 3 traditional cortijos and is the most traditional of the 3. A charming cottage with many wonderful Moorish features including traditional flat stone ceilings and a unique bathroom which is a converted Moorish bread oven. The bathroom has both a shower and bath. There is a fireplace and 2 sofas in the sitting room with the kitchen at the far end with gas oven, fridge etc. There is also a small dining table and seats for 4 people. There are 2 bedrooms, one with 2 single beds and the other with a double bed. This bedroom also has its own mini terrace, totally private and only with access from the bedroom. This cortijo is all on one floor although there are steps to enter and to the bathroom and bedrooms. The thick walls of this cortijo keep it beautifully cool in the summer months.

Outside the cortijo there is a large covered secluded wooden terrace for exclusive use of guests staying in this cortijo, surrounded by grapes and fig trees with ample room for relaxing and eating. It has panoramic views to the Trevelez valley in the East and South to the coast. There is also a barbeque area directly outside the house as well as a hammock, both next to the terrace. It is only a short walk from the swimming pool. The large pool is filled from a natural spring water stream. Please note that the swimming pool is shared between this cottage and 2 other detached cottages but you will hardly ever find other people by the pool as often guests spend a day at the beach or visiting Granada or hiking locally.

This coritjo is ideal for a family of 4. The large lawn provides ample space for running about and playing games and the garden connects directly with the national park which makes hiking easy and accessible. Guests are encouraged to wander freely and explore.
There is also a peaceful shaded area with various 500 year old chestnut trees, ideal for meditation, yoga and relaxation.

Magnífica y acogedora estancia

El alojamiento se encuentra en un lugar privilegiado, suficientemente aislado para disfrutar de la tranquilidad de la zona y la naturaleza pero comunicado con los pequeños pueblos de la parte más bonita de la Alpujarra granadina, como Trévelez, Pampaneira o Capileira donde realizar pequeñas compras o poder comer, cenar o simplemente pasear por sus calles. El alojamiento doble que disfrutamos (Pablito) tiene todo lo necesario para pasar unos días, tal vez lo único que se echa de menos es un microondas para calentar el desayuno. No hay televisión pero era totalmente prescindible en nuestro caso. Un secador de pelo que necesitamos nos lo compraron y proporcionaron al día siguiente sin problema, todo un detalle. Dispone de una terraza propia con barbacoa y unas vistas increíbles al valle del Trévelez. El cortijo es grande, con una amplia y cuidada piscina y repleto de árboles frutales de los que puedes comer la fruta que quieras, también nos dieron tomates, pimientos... y nos ofrecieron todo tipo de productos de su huerta, los anfitriones (Mo y Lucy) son lo mejor sin duda. La zona es un paraíso para el senderismo, hay rutas por todas partes y de todo tipo, más duras (subir al Mulhacén desde Trévelez tiene lo suyo...) y otras más sencillas para realizar incluso con niños. Por nuestra parte seguro que repetiremos la visita en cuanto podamos, sitio 100% recomendable.

Traumhaft schön

Wunderschönes Cortjo in traumhafter Umgebung! Der Garten ist riesig. Tolle Pflanzen und auch Obst und Gemüse durften wir aus dem Garten essen. Das Cortjo ist gut ausgestattet alles was man braucht. Mo und Lucy sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Gegend ist toll sehr ländlich, bis zum Strand braucht man zwar durch die Serpentinen etwas länger, andererseits kann man es in dem tollen Garten mit dem großen Pool auch sehr gut aushalten und dabei einen tollen Blick genießen. Meine Töchter waren insbesondere auch von einem Maultier begeistert das quer übers Gelände spazieren geht. Wir würden das nochmal buchen, da wir eine tolle Woche hatten.

Estancia maravillosa

Nos costó un poco llegar al lugar, pues parece que había un pequeño problema con las coordenadas GPS (el camino que sube al cortijo sale de la A-132 entre el km 29 y el 30). Pero una vez que llegamos allí, todo fue absolutamente maravilloso. Creo que las fotos no consiguen hacer realmente justicia a la belleza del entorno y de los cortijos. Las vistas y toda la naturaleza alrededor es espectacular, con innumerables rutas para perderse y descubrir Sierra Nevada. En la propia finca uno puede disfrutar incluso de la presencia de árboles centenarios, que tienen algo de mágico. La piscina, zonas comunes y los propios cortijos son todos preciosos. Todo hecho con mucho cuidado y reflejando el trabajo de muchos años. Y qué decir de Mo y Lucy. Unos huéspedes fantásticos, siempre sonrientes y siempre dispuestos a ayudar y hacernos descubrir todas los secretos del lugar. Mis hijos se despertaban por la mañana deseando echar una mano a Mo con la azada o a recoger frutas de los árboles. Como digo en el título, ¡fue una estancia maravillosa! Ya estamos deseando volver...

Estancia inolvidable

Cortijos Rey Fini es un lugar sencillamente hermoso. Pasamos cinco días disfrutando del entorno de la finca, de la piscina con vistas inmejorables, de la tranquilidad y de algunas ricas frutas frescas de los árboles frutales y del huerto. Antonio nos atendió con muchísima amabilidad y nos recomendó algunos lugares para disfrutar de las vistas del entorno a pocos minutos a pie de nuestro alojamiento. Ha sido una estancia que nunca olvidaremos. Nos quedamos con ganas de conocer a Mo y su familia, pero volveremos seguro. Recomendamos al 200%

Fabulous taste of the Sierra Nevada

Fabulous location. ' Pablito' cortijos is small and just about equipped enough for 2 people. It is the poor relation a bit though to the other 2 cortijos which are fabulous. It is a bit frustrating when trying to book this type of holiday just for 2 persons. Often properties are a bit pokey compared to larger properties sleeping 4 or more, which should not be the case just because there are are only 2 of you. Cortijos Rey Fini was great, because of its hosts and their generosity and the pool and the surrounding grounds and the location. Our hosts invited us continually to help ourselves to their organically grown fruit and veg. which included tomatoes, courgettes, aubergine, cucumber, lettuce, apples, pears, passion fruit etc... the list goes on. I think they should offer the option of guests to pay to have dinner or lunch with them, so they can present a real eclectic taste of their variety of interesting cuisine. I loved this place, just felt that ' Pablito' was a bit of an afterthought, lacking in the decorative pizzazz that it could have had after observing the other 2 cortijos. Would not hesitate to go back, but would not use 'Pablito' but for 2 people would not be able to justify paying for either of the other cortijos.

My family and I spent a glorious week at this magical property in the unspoilt region of the Alpujarras. Such a pity we could not stay longer. Mo and his wife Lucy were very welcoming and offered us freshly laid eggs from their chickens daily as well as amazing organic vegetables and fruit from their garden. Waking to a view of the mountains every day is refreshing and deeply relaxing. Its a great base from which to explore the many walks through the Seirra Nevada nature reserve with wild horses and wild boar. The cortijos are rustic but stylishly furnished. Its a great spot for a quiet mountain break away from it all.

El inesperado encuentro el la Alpujarra

Es uno de los lugares mas bellos en los que hemos estado. Mo y Lucy le han sacado la belleza a un espacio fantastico. Desde el primer momento en que llegas te sientes acogido, protegido y muy cuidado, eso te hace realmente desconectar y entrar en unverdadero descanso. Te dan total acceso a su espectacular huerto, arboles frutales y a toda su instalación, el lugar esta creado con un cariño y amor en cada rincon, cuando lo recorres todo te habla, desde la piscina con agua de un mantial, pasando por cuatros castaños centenarios que custodian el lugar, cuidadisimo cesped y llegando a una construccion de bambús. Y por si fuera poco nos homenajearon a todos con una espléndida cena. En resumen verdadero descanso, real cuido, y de esos lugares y personas donde te vas con una profunda reflexión y un gran aprendizaje. Estamos muy agradecidos .

Beautiful Cortijo in a wonderful location.

We had a truly wonderful week ,staying in Pablito. The location was ideally situated for walking and enjoying the magnificent scenery. The local villages were a delight. Pablito was comfortable and very well equipped and we appreciated all the information about the location that had been left in the cottage. The swimming pool was a real bonus despite being very cold! We very much look forward to a return visit next year.

Fantastic location, views and hosts

This was perfect for us. Being up in the Sierra Nevada meant that the heat was not as oppressive as down in Granada City. The location is superb and full of real character with wonderful views. The buildings are not boring new build holiday homes but instead have been built from authentic local materials to reproduce the feel and heritage of originals on the site going back hundreds of years. The pool is a real swimming pool: Great for doing some exercise to assuage the guilt after all the food and drink. :0). Mo and Lucy are superb hosts and very generous in sharing produce from their extensive fruit and veg gardens. A superb place to really chill out.

Though I am an Anglo-Iranian national, I have spent most of my life in Latin America in search of Music and crafts and have written several books on Latin America including The Weavers of ancient Peru, Portrait of Latin America, co-author of Cuban Dictionary ( University press- USA) and together with my wife Lucy The arts and crafts of South America(Thames and Hudson-UK).
We both love travelling, investigating and learning from the many different cultures of Latin America.
We have travelled across South America on a motor bike, a Landrover and once crossed the Andes with 2 donkeys over a period of 11 months.
We love meeting people of different cultures and speak various languages including Spanish, English, Persian and a good knowledge of Portuguese. I even learnt to speak the Inca Language “Quechua”.

Why they chose this property

We love the sun and there is plenty of that in Southern Spain. I had a business for 25 years in Costa del Sol in southern Spain and during those years, I became familiar with this part of Spain. As we got older, we wanted a quiet place for peace and tranquillity, a place where we could embrace nature without noise and cars, a place we could eventually retire to. Hence the Alpujarras in Sierra Nevada. Over 20 years ago, we found this land with several cortijos , stone cottages in Moorish language. They all needed serious attention. So we spent the first 10 years doing them up, growing fruit trees and establishing a vineyard. It's an on-going project as new ideas develop and we spend more time here. We now have 2 dogs Paco and Pepe, lots of chickens, a peacock and are now concentrating our efforts in producing beautiful wine from our own vineyard.

What makes this property unique

Cortijos Rey Fini is unique as it is in the heart of the national Park and perhaps it is the only place in the entire Alpujarras that shares all borders with the national park. We have plenty of water from the peaks of Mulhacen mountain which is a true gift in this part of the world. We are approx 1500 m above sea level meaning even in the hottest months of the year it never gets too hot.
We are only an hour or so from many beautiful Mediterranean beaches and the same distance from Granada and Alhambra. We are surrounded by beautiful scenery with lots of hiking routes and stunning views and wildlife.
Ultimately it is the perfect place to relax, unwind and take a step back from every day life, which when daily life gets ever more frenetic, becomes more and more valuable.
