About this property
Refined luxury apartment in a 15th century Palazzo with canal view
The scaleter apartment is a remarkable property expertly created within a 15th century canal-side palace near the Church of Santa Fosca in the heart of Cannaregio. Palazzo Vendramin Costa provides a calm, unruffled and historically fascinating backdrop for an unforgettable stay.
A generously proportioned apartment on the first floor reached by stairs from the Palazzo’s communal ‘androne’ hallway, boasting a fine combination of wooden beamed and 18th century Venetian stucco ceilings, cool terrazzo flooring underfoot and charming views over the Rio di Santa Fosca canal to the fore.
Integrating chic Italian design with meticulously restored architectural details such as Venetian terrazzo flooring and colourful frescoes
Scaleter is the term used to indicate pastry chefs in Venice. The name derives from some desserts that were produced on the occasion of special parties or weddings.

The first bedroom to the very rear of the apartment overlooking the Palazzo’s narrow inner courtyard / calle to the side, with a beautiful wooden beamed ceiling, a double bed, plus a separate walk-in wardrobe with wood-lined interior. This was a lovely property in a nice quiet neighborhood. The apartment was quite large and modern and two separate bathrooms are very convenient , as was the in house washing machine. The hosts were very nice.
It is a lovely and comfortable apartment with operable windows overlooking the canal. We enjoyed watching the daily activities of Venetian life. Everything was neat as a pin, beds are comfortable and the apartment is spacious and airy. We enjoyed perfect weather for our October stay. We especially liked the location away from the San Marco and Rialto crowds. On the other hand the Rialto market is one vaporetto stop away. The Santa Fosca cafe just up the canal is a delightful stop for good fresh food.
This is a lovely, bright, large and spotless apartment up one flight of stairs. Owners were super responsive. Would definitely stay here again. FYI the walk from vaporetto stops includes several bridges, so we were happy to pay for exorbitant water taxis from train and to airport with luggage. Otherwise, it’s a fine location walking and exploring. And the apartment is quiet!(For some reason, VRBO also asked for a Winery rating, which is irrelevant for this property)
This apartment is well located with easy walking access to many of the popular tourist destinations. It is large and well kept. We all (5 of us) enjoyed our stay immensely. Would consider staying again.
We had the best time in this apartment. It is beautiful. There were 6 of us in the unit and it fit us well. The a/c was great. The hosts helped arrange water taxis from the train station and to the airport. They were so helpful! Would love to stay here again!
This is a gorgeous, very spacious unit in Venice. It exceeded our expectations in every way - kitchen and bathrooms are very modern and the apartment is exceptionally clean. I would say it is a 15 min or so walk to San Marco Square and slightly closer to the Rialto Bridge. Hosts were very responsive and very accommodating.
We had a fantastic stay in this apartment. It was exactly as it looked in the interior pictures and was extremely clean.Located in a quiet neighborhood with great restaurants and 3 grocery stores just 2-4 walking minutes away, this apartment is spacious and comfortable. It is easy to walk around Venice and catch the ferries which don't take a lot to work out. Everything worked, the beds were comfortable, the air conditioning was appreciated during our 10 night stay. The shower was very good! We loved it so much we will be back and stay for longer next year. It's the perfect spot!
This apartment in Venice was beautiful. Very large rooms with lots of space. Clean, secure, and perfect place to spend time in Venice. The host welcomed us and helped arrange water taxis and provided every detail. Definitely would highly recommend and would stay here again.
A fantastic place to stay in an ideal location. The apartment is generous in size and provides a luxurious base from which to explore Venice. Communication with the owners and ease of check in was excellent, right from booking through to leaving. The area is great for places to eat, drink or shop and you are close to links for transport all around the city. The apartment provides a welcome sanctuary from the busy streets ( and excellent air conditioning in hot weather) to refresh before the venturing out to explore the next location. Highly recommended for a luxury visit to Venice at a very reasonable price.
First of all Andreas was terrific. Our biggest concern was finding the property and getting there from the airport. ANDREAS HANDLED IT ALL! Getting there from Marco Polo Airport was so easy by water taxi. Basically a speed boat for 4-6 people and luggage. FUN! Getting back for a 6pm flight by water too. Reliable 3am pickup! Handled by Andreas also. The apartment was luxurious and unique. The outside was ancient like the surroundings. The inside was brand new and very modern and artful. Great location 30 min walk to St Marks square. Used Google maps to find everything. Great restaurant 3 min walk on Strada Nuova. Alle Lanternine Trattoria. Great Lasagna. Ask for Claudio. Ate there nitely. So handy after a full day. Go to Venice. Stay here.
The apartment was spacious and very comfortable. The concierge service and tips on the website were super helpful! The location was a little outside the main tourist area and very quiet. It was convenient to an assortment of wonderful restaurants and close to water bus stations. Only request to the host. Clearer address and building number in the confirmation email. And maybe kitchen towels and a clothes drying rack? A tip to future guests. If you want American coffee bring filters. You can't buy them at the COOP.. Pay the money for a water taxi to get your luggage to and from the airport or train station to the apartment unless all you have is a backpack and are fit. The water buses are crowded and a bit of a hike over several bridges. Great when you are out sight seeing. Not so much when you are tired. Get the water bus pass and ride all over. And if you are going to Murano go north to F. Nova station not to one of the Grand Canal stations We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.
