About this property

Gorgeously restored tranquil farmhouse

Stay at beautiful Casa Castagni in Umbria.

Our charming and very old farm house, 10 minutes from Lake Trasimeno, and Castiglione del Lago.

Italy at it's very best.

The perfect family holiday home.

If you'd like to know anything else do get in touch.

The accommodation is all upstairs, traditionally only animals lived downstairs!

Alas not appropriate for the infirm and those requiring wheelchair access.

Originally two houses, these were knocked into one when we bought it back in 1982.

Every room in the house is a different shape, but they all have wooden beamed ceilings, and a view of the countryside.

The kitchen is brand new, with a new sink, hob and oven. It has lots of working space, the whole family can prepare in there at the same time!

The living room is all funny angles and very individual. It has two brand new sofas, and a large wood burning stove.

Be warned, there's a good chance you'll see spiders and other insects!

There is a large patio area at the rear of the house overlooking the garden, please make full use of it.

The front balcony is a great place for everything from breakfast to after dinner drinks.

Turn off the lights
Leave the sheets on the bed, we’ll take care of that.
Please remove all perishable food, it could be a while before the cleaners come.
Please makes sure AC/heating is turned off. Don’t worry about the hot water, that’s fine left on.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Please be sparing with the Air Conditioning, Italian electricity is very expensive. Please leave the Air Conditioning at 25C.

Host was quick to respond to questions and concerns and offered great advice about the location. He understood our concerns and the house, though a bit tiny for our families of 8, was well appointed and had everything we needed...especially being big cooks.Only challenges were that it took two nights before the house truly warmed up with the heaters and the wonderful fire (it was very cold out...and can't blame the host for that!) And, being big cooks, when we would use oven as well as the stovetop at the same time for a meal, and with other electricity on in the house the breakers/fuse box would shut off. It made two nights of our stay a bit difficult to time our big "at home" dinners. Overall, very cozy, comfortable and it was a great location for us as it was only 10 min. from our new home in Castiglione Del Lago! Thank you!

Es war ein wundervolles altes Haus mit Seele. Jedes Zimmer ist mit Charme eingerichtet. Wer ein perfektes, modernes und steriles Ferienhaus erwartet, ist hier falsch aber jeder, der die Seele Italiens spüren möchte, kann sie hier finden. Der Trasimeno See ist mit dem Fahrrad innerhalb von ca. 15min erreichbar. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gibt es im Umkreis von wenigen Fahrminuten. Innerhalb von ca. 2,5h ist man jeweils in Pisa, Rom oder San Marino. Deutlich näher dran sind natürlich Perugia oder Florenz. Der See läd natürlich zum Entspannen und Baden ein. Für Kinder ist es ideal gelegen, zwar an einer Straße, die aber nicht viel befahren wird. Außerdem sind durch die vielen Schlafzimmer genügend Rückzugsorte auch für Pubertiere vorhanden. Das W-LAN ist gut. Das Ferienhaus verfügt über alle Dinge, die man braucht. Ein Fernseher hat es nicht, aber das ist für uns auch nicht wichtig gewesen.Es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt!

We simply don't know how old it is, it could be 200, 300, 400+ years old!
