Close by to Bamburgh but equally close to the stunning countryside of Northumberland, and only a short drive to the National Park too. These two comfortable cottages, both with a handy ground floor bathroom, are located in a small courtyard near the local pub that also belongs to the owners, with a lovely restaurant and live music on weekends.

With everything you need for a self-catering break for couples or a small family. The small courtyard area has sitting-out. A great location for your holiday or a well-deserved short break to relax and unwind.

The village has a great community spirit with three good local pubs, a few bespoke shops and coffee shops, as well as a very handy supermarket only 400 yards from the doorstep. The Belford Museum hosts exhibitions and the local farm shop at the top of the village sticks lots of organic produce with a great choice of coffee and ales in the on-site café.

A lovely walk to St Cuthbert’s Cave is only a few miles from Belford where the Lindisfarne (Holy Island) monks reputedly took St Cuthbert’s body in AD875 following the Viking road on Holy Island. Nearby Budle Bay has thousands of waders on the tidal lagoon a beautiful sight looking over to the island. A local bus takes you to the popular coastal villages of Beadnell, Seahouses and Bamburgh should you wish to leave your car behind. Whether you explore the coast, the countryside or entwine both, Swan’s nest is perfectly located and a cosy welcoming base to return to after a day exploring this super friendly county, reputedly the friendliest county in England, steeped in history and folklore.

My wife and I spent a very pleasant week at Cygnet Cottage, using it as a base to explore the Northumberland Coast and local area. This particular accommodation is ideal for a couple. The living area is well furnished and comfortable. The kitchen equipment all worked fine and there was an adequate supply of crockery, cutlery, and tools. The bathroom was small but perfectly usable with a decent, electric, shower. Upstairs was the bedroom with good storage facilities and a comfortable double bed which afforded a good night's sleep after our outings. We found the radiator settings too warm for our taste but used the switches on the boiler to override the standard timed settings. Note: We didn't touch the Timer Settings at all! :) Outside the parking area is not particularly large and is used by cottage guests and pub staff alike. No real issue, but we did park in the market square one particularly busy night.Richard and Jane were very pleasant hosts and their staff were fun and friendly on the couple of occasions that we availed ourselves of the very tasty menu offerings in the Black Swan.
