Enclosed back garden with garden furniture. On road parking. No smoking.. Built in 1764, The Moorings is particularly unique as it is the oldest cottage in this charming seaside village. The cottage sits right on the sea front with unrestricted views over Wigtown Bay towards the Lake District in the distance. Step into to the lovely living room, a particular feature is the exposed stone wall with inglenook fireplace and cosy multi-fuel burner. The delightful farmhouse style kitchen/diner has everything you need to make your stay here enjoyable. You will also find on the ground floor a shower room with WC and hand wash basin. Upstairs the master bedroom has a feature exposed stone wall with original ornamental fireplace and en-suite shower room. To the rear is a beautiful sunny enclosed private garden with patio areas, lawn and colourful borders. It is the perfect place to sit and relax and enjoy the sunshine late into the evening.
Garlieston is a pretty little harbour village where you will find a small shop and garage, a café and perhaps best of all if you don’t want to cook after a day exploring the wonders of this beautiful area, a local pub/restaurant serving excellent food. The village has a bowling club which welcomes visitors, also sailing / boating / canoeing tuition is available locally.
There are many delightful walks from your door - take a stroll along the beach, which is approximately 50 yards from your front door! Or head into the woodland garden and arboretum of Galloway House Gardens, famous for its spring display of azaleas, rhododendrons and its unique hankerchief tree which flowers end of May / beginning of June. The pretty little sandy beach at Rigg Bay is delightful and the views from Cruggleton Castle are simply breathtaking. Golf and fishing are within easy reach, as are the Galloway Hills and the world class 7Stanes mountain bike trails.
Wigtown, Scotland’s book town, as well as Whithorn and the harbour villages of Isle of Whithorn and Port William, are only a short drive or cycle ride away on quiet roads. The larger town of Newton Stewart, known as ‘the Gateway to the Galloway Hills’ is a short drive away with a wider range of amenities and larger supermarkets. The Moorings certainly does provide the perfect base for couples who want to enjoy a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life
