About this property
Goodshelter Bay - a large modern waterfront house with private slipway
Goodshelter Bay is a triumph of architectural design in a sensitive and secluded setting. Nestled along the foreshore of Goodshelter and Waterhead Creek, it is a place synonymous with generations of boat builders and fishermen who used the cove to revitalise and relax.
With a private slipway and 300 metres of foreshore you can walk 20 metres from your bedroom through the pretty winding wildflower garden for your early morning swim or sunset paddle-board.
Designed and built in 2021 by Harrison Sutton, this extremely private boutique holiday home is centred on an angle change to take advantage of the stunning coastal views. The main living space on the upper ground floor is designed to hang in an elevated woodland setting looking out over the tranquil estuary.
The spacious and well-equipped open-plan kitchen and dining area leads to a beautiful sitting area. As the night cools, this is a comfortable place to retire and a wood burner ensures a cosy night. A separate sitting room with a large television is great for watching the latest Hollywood blockbuster.
Downstairs are four luxurious self-contained suites. Each enjoy their own sea views, doors out to the garden and en suite bath or shower room. To give the house maximum flexibility, each bedroom can be set-up as a twin or a super king.
Underneath the beautiful wooden loggia is a sitting and dining area just perfect for morning coffees or al fresco lunches with friends. The stunning 2.5 acres of private gardens are there to be explored, and you'll find pretty pathways winding through wild flowers, hidden seating areas and the creek down below. And as the sun sets, the chiminea and side garden come into their own for sundowners.
For those fitness and wellbeing enthusiasts take advantage of the private Nissen hut in the grounds, housing a gym with cross-trainer, bench, weights and yoga facilities. Follow your workout with an indulgent sauna and ease out muscles or just breathe and relax in this gorgeous space.
There are two kayaks provided to explore the creeks on summer days or to head into Salcombe to pick up croissants for breakfast. And for those with boating aspirations, there is a running mooring that can be made available if you have your own boat. Please speak to the team for more information.
The utility area with washing machine, tumble dryer is a great space for washing/drying from the days events, and a separate cloakroom with a bench and hanging space is for your jacket and wellies.
Goodshelter Bay is a generously proportioned house that is perfect for your next coastal retreat with friends or family. Stunning interiors, a glorious setting and incredibly private; this is a knockout holiday home which really sets the bar high.
Winner of a Building Excellence Award 2023 for Best Individual New Home
