About this property

Golden Meadow - a house that sleeps 14 guests in 7 bedrooms

Architecturally imagined and built using a combination of steel, glass and stone, this extraordinary house with its sculptural lines and inspired outdoor space offers luxurious living and blissful escapism to one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Devon.

Designed to host large groups of friends and family, Golden Meadow is a celebration home where plush interiors, rivalled only by the encompassing views of Start Bay, exude elegance and comfort throughout. Flagstone terraces, low stone walls and soft-glow lighting lend a distinctly Mediterranean feel to the home's outdoor areas where unobstructed panoramic views of both the sea and countryside create an away-from-it-all atmosphere and make for the perfect places to share conversation, sunset views and glasses of champagne.

Boasting luxe furnishings, bespoke décor and unique design elements, the interior includes a sweeping entrance hall with open fireplace and occasional seating while at the centre of the space, a mid-century spiral staircase leads to the property's upper and lower floors. Seven beautifully spacious bedrooms and bathrooms as well as a cinema room and several reception rooms have been individually styled using a combination of textures and fabrics that work together to lend a tactile and boutique-esque edge to every room. Carved wall panelling, luxurious sofas, textile wallpaper, eclectic artwork and creative lighting infuse each area with its own mood, whether enhancing the sumptuousness of the bedrooms or the cosiness of the downstairs cinema room.

Central to this home's design are the spaces for entertaining and socialising in. The kitchen with its marble splashback, honed silestone countertops, oak flooring and Provencal table is wonderfully equipped to create anything from freshly baked batches of scones to lavish roast dinners, and sports a lacquered breakfast bar island with contemporary stainless steel stools and pendulum lighting. A huge dining room with floor to ceiling glass framed by floaty gauze curtains makes the ideal space to share evening meals, and on warm evenings the integral sliding doors can be opened to reveal an elevated terrace with a stone top table, artisan seating and glass balustrade.

Positioned within easy reach of the clear, calm waters and sun-bleached beaches that line the South Hams coast as well as being only a short drive from the naval town of Dartmouth, this gorgeous home offers guests a magical escape to one of the most sought-after destinations in the country.

Golden Meadow also includes The Workshop; a separate, self-contained one bedroom studio apartment so that guests needing a little extra privacy will have the perfect pad to retreat to.

A Wonderful Holiday at Golden Meadows

This was our second holiday at Golden Meadows. We had forgotten how stunning the view is from the dining room particularly in the spring sunshine. It was lovely to share meals with the whole family overlooking, from the dining table, the meadow and onto the sea. If you are a keen bird watcher, you get a very good vantage point. It is a beautiful house to stay in and the beds are extremely comfortable. There are plenty of stunning walks to do from the house - Beesands, Hallsands and then onto Start Point. Springtime was a particularly beautiful time to visit. Golden Meadows is a very special place to stay.

A Brilliant Week

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Golden Meadow. The views from the house over the fields to the sea were stunning and especially good for bird watching. The kitchen was very well equipped and we were able to enjoy our meals overlooking the sea view. All the bedrooms were of a good quality and the beds were extremely comfortable. We were all able to relax living in the house and there was plenty of space for a large family gathering. The location of Golden Meadow was excellent - a fifteen minute walk to the sea and plenty of nearby places to visit by car. Overall, it was a fantastic week.

Stunning views

We are a group of 60 somethings who holiday together each year. On the whole Golden Meadows was perfect. I feel the reviews that the house is rather tired a little unfair. On the whole the house was great - the kitchen certainly was the most used room - a large space with exceptional views and good equipment and facilities. Seriously steep roads around to get to the house but worth the journey to get the views that we did. The garden would be great had the weather been better - nice areas to sit which sadly we weren't able to take advantage of. All the rooms had really good linen with nice comfortable beds and the house was lovely and warm.

Location was very good overlooking the bay - house was well set out very clean with everything you could possibly need for any type of cooking. The bedrooms were very good with excellent showers and the cinema room was very welcome by all ages.

Golden Meadow Xmas 23

Superb property with an amazing view. Plenty of space to spread out with a cinema room, TV lounge and quiet lounge for reading. Kitchen had everything needed for Xmas. Would stay there again.

Outstanding property and that's not hyperbole

This is the most amazing house. Looks better in real life than in the pictures. I defy anyone to find a property with a better view. But the interior is gorgeous too - feels very high end and more distinctive than the interiors of rental properties normally are. We loved it - 5 stars all the way.

What a stunning place. The house is gorgeous but the views are even better. Very helpful concierge service. All rooms were of an equally high standard. Highly recommended

Wonderful house in an idyllic location

We spent a lovely week in Golden Meadow in October with close family to celebrate a very Big Birthday. The house is hugely impressive with simply amazing views out to sea and numerous delightful terraces. One of our party with mobility issues spent hours gazing out over the meadows to the lagoon and sea, taking in the fantastic bird life. Some of our more hardy members went sea-swimming and found themselves upstaged by a passing seal! There are several excellent pubs and eateries within a short distance and we ate very well there. We would certainly return to this property but there are a few things which need attention. We found directions to the property inadequate and then when we eventually found it we had to request instructions as to where we would find the keys as this bit of vital information wasn’t contained in the blurb. Several bits of equipment in the kitchen are in need of repair (the hob and the extractor fan). Several chairs in various parts of the property are worn through and need reupholstering, particularly on the arms. A large table light in the kitchen didn’t work. Toilet roll holders are loose and wobbly in most bathrooms. These are minor quibbles as we thoroughly enjoyed the week but a little tlc would be all to the good. All in all, a wonderful house in a perfect location and I would thoroughly recommend it.

A wonderful location with views to die for!

Who could fail to be impressed by the view as you enter the well equipped kitchen. With comfortable chairs around the table and doors to the outside it was no surprise that we spent most of our time here. The children enjoyed the cinema room on the wet days, and when they were exhausted from running around the beaches. The house is excellent for a multi-generational holiday such as ours, but it could do with a little TLC, as could the garden.

May 1/2 term stays

Great views and good size property The local support team were excellent and very responsive when needed Improvements: Needs a deep clean as there was dust and dirt which looked like it had been there a long time Would benefit from a TV in the main lounge and main kitchen Cinema was very dusty and dirty, so much so the dust was visible in the air Parking is limited to 3 cars - though this is an fyi for future guests and should be made clear in the description of the property as there is no overflow parking nearby Curtains in the kitchen did not close fully which made it uncomfortable when the sun was coming blazing in and curtains in the main lounge did not close fully which made it impossible at night to block on the early morning light in the twin bedroom on the lower ground floor.

Long weekend

Thoroughly enjoyed our reunion of 12 adults at Golden Meadow. Superb location with stunning views and close to great pubs, walks, Stokely Farm shop plus beaches. Golden Meadow was spotlessly clean and luxurious, however surprised to have mainly double beds. Perhaps the provision of more Kingsize beds or two singles would have made the accommodation far more comfortable.
