About this property

St Michael's Cottage (4), Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk

Located in Wells-next-the-Sea, St Michael's cottage is a very unique, boutique self-catering cottage, built in the 1500s. With a spectacular lookout tower offering wonderful coastal views as far as the eye can see over the harbour, this hideaway is perfect for those wanting a very special place in an exceptional town within walking distance of the beach and amenities.

St Michael's Cottage is a truly stunning 16th century flint and brick built former merchant's house. Full of character, it has a lookout tower at the top of the house on the fourth floor which adorns beautiful views over East Fleet creek, the harbour, the marshes and sea beyond. With the telescope/binoculars supplied, this is a perfect space for daytime vistas to appreciate the superb coastal views and equally impressive for night-time stargazing. This beautiful cottage decorated in a neutral palette is set on a no through road right in the heart of Wells-next-the-Sea, on one of the narrow lanes that leads down to the quay, and comes with off street parking for one car and its own sunny south-facing courtyard garden, with a barbecue seating area.

Step inside this enchanting cottage and you will find two steep Norfolk winder staircases on either side of the house, a sitting room with wood burning stove, two bedrooms plus a shower room and a bathroom. On the third floor you will find a television room. A spacious kitchen/dining space on the ground floor provides the opportunity to enjoy good food and conversation, whilst reminiscing over the days events. Now beautifully refurbished, St Michael's Cottage offers relaxed but stylish living and is a unique, quirky holiday home full of character. Suitable for both families and friends, it is ideal for a short break or longer stay.

St Michael's Cottage is one of Wells' oldest traditional buildings and as such, there are uneven floor levels and steps both within and outside the property. The Norfolk winder stairs are enclosed, steep, curved and narrow. We would advise that the house would not be suitable for the less mobile. This is a very enchanting cottage, and those who stay here adore the unique character that it comes with.

This property is also available as a sleeps nine option, with bedrooms on the second floor opened up, listed as St Michael's Cottage.

Additional Information:
One well-behaved dog welcome (small additional charge).
Eight coffee pods will be supplied for the Tassimo coffee machine.
Travel cot and high chair available on request. Please bring your own linen for the travel cot.
Access Note: This is an historic property with steep narrow stairs, uneven floors and low head space in places.
