Such a beautiful property and wonderful host! The location is perfect for experiencing the national park and the surrounding Volcano area. We loved the scenery and wildlife.
The host is very nice and welcoming, she had a very nice bed warmer on due to the cold temperature. It is such a cozy and beautiful place. It is a seven minute drive to the national park. It is super clean and has such a peaceful vibe due to its japanese architecture and the beautiful location that it is in.

Aloha Erika,
I enjoyed meeting and hosting you and David, at Laukapu Forest Cottage here in Volcano Village on Moku Nui (Island Very-Big), and appreciated the care you took of the cottage and hope to host you, again, in future.
Mahalo hou (Thanks again),
Kathryn
Kathryn & Kenneth’s spectacular property is not to be missed! Hand crafted Usonian/Japanese/ Arts & Crafts design is like zen retreat in the forest. Ohi’a trees with honey creepers sing all around you. Minutes from HVNP and the adorable Volcano Village. Maholo!
A wonderful cottage in the rainforest. Very comfortable, cozy, clean and accommodating. The location is perfect. Quiet and convenient. Just a short drive down the scenic road to the volcano. The host was thoughtful, hospitable, gracious, informative and very welcoming. This is the place to stay for a fun trip to the beautiful big island of Hawaii!
Good place to stay while visiting Volcanos NP. Less than 10 minutes from the park entrance. About 45 minutes to Hilo.Well furnished and equipped. Friendly host lives next door. One issue for us was the lack of heat. Elevation is almost 4000 feet, and it was getting into the 50s F at night. Around 60 F inside when we woke up in the mornings. We are wimps, and that was a bit cool for us. There is a space heater, but it was only raising the temperature a few degrees. There is also a mattress heater on the bed that really helped!
Lovely cottage in the middle of volcanoes rainforest. A very comfortable and relaxing place to serve as a home base while exploring the park. Appreciate all Kathryn's assistance before and during our stay. Hope to return in the future.

Aloha Cathy!
Mahalo (Thanks) for your glowing, positive review. I so enjoyed meeting you and David and would happily welcome you back for another stay in LFC. Perhaps, during your next stay, Madame Pele will provide you with a lava fountaining show.
Ā hui hou (together again)!
A truly memorable, magical place. Well equipped with everything we needed. The heated bed was an especially nice touch. Really appreciated the incredibly thorough, detailed information about the area provided ahead of our stay. Perfect base for exploring Volcanoes NP. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

We had such a wonderful stay. The home is beautifully built, well maintained and we felt right at home. The host gave so many great recommendations and showed how much she cared from our arrival to departure. We highly recommend this home and stay in Volcano being so close to Kīlauea was great. We loved being in the quiet mountains and enjoyed our time around the home with peaceful outdoor space as well. We hope to return again one day!
This cottage did not disappoint. It looked even prettier in person. It was well stocked and super convenient to Volcanoes National Park. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will recommend to others.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the cottage. The hosts were communicative and took care of everything we needed. The space is well-stocked, and it was lovely getting to listen to a thunderstorm while we were happy and dry inside. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting VNP!
We had a lovely time staying at LFC. Kathryn is a great and communicative host. Be prepared to get the best sleep of your life with the rain drops falling on the roof.
Kathryn was wonderful, very communicative, provided a ton of info, and the place itself exceeded our expectations. I would recommend to anyone looking to explore Volcano!
Awesome….incomparable. Highly recommended…..in fact, not to be missed, especially if you love Volcanoes Hawaii National Park. Kathryn is beyond wonderful.

The cottage is perfect nestled in the rainforest! Kathryn was very kind and friendly and we had a couple nice visits. The location is very close to VNP and a nice drive to Hilo and the waterfalls.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Kathryn was a wonderful host! The cottage was clean and cozy with many amenities. The surroundings were peaceful. Highly recommend.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the property that was just 5 mins away from the national park. At first glance, be prepared to be stunned by the wood craftmanship and rainforest feels that you'll be surrounded by. Highly recommend!
Unique and wonderful little studio. We had everything we needed and the hosts were extremely gracious. The welcome chocolates and good coffee were especially appreciated! The location is very convenient to the Park.
The cottage was perfect for our visit. We visited Volcano NP during the day and went back for sunset at 4:00AM the next day to see the lava flow. Kathryn was a great host and everything worked out perfectly.
