About this property

"Life is better at a cabin in the woods... and on a lake."

If you've been looking for a private getaway in the north woods/lakes, then look no further! Our quaint little cabin sits in the middle of 3 acres within a stand of hemlocks that survived the 1917 forest fire (some trees on the property have been aged at 180+ years old). Your closest neighbors during your stay will be whitetail deer, great horned owls, pileated woodpeckers, and various other critters that call the northwoods home. To top it all off, the short path down the hill will lead you to our lake where kayaks and a paddleboat are waiting for you to use while exploring the lake.

Bring your bikes (Bearskin State Trail), fishing poles (Birch and many surrounding lakes) and your appetite (Minocqua is ten miles away.) There are also two campfire pits on the property (one by the lake and another at the cabin), and a gas grill for your use.

Close enough to enjoy all of the major attractions of the Northwoods, and privacy to unwind with your friends or family at the end of the day. We know you will love it as much as we do!

Warm and peaceful, down to earth

We have stayed at this property twice - a week during summer and a long weekend in late fall (snow!). The property is nicely maintained and clean. It’s warm on the inside - in the winter you will want to cozy up on the couch with the stove roaring. It is equally comfortable during summer as the cabin is shaded and located in a beautiful wooded area. The path down to the lake is gorgeous and tranquil. The Bay is very quiet with very little boat traffic, which makes it great for paddling around! I have severe allergies to must and mold. So many cabins have problems with this - but NOT this one! Even the basement is dry and no weird cabin smells! The lot is large and secluded. It is biking distance from the Bearskin bike trail which goes right into downtown Minocqua (13 miles each way - great day trip). It is also very close to numerous hiking, mountain biking, and snowshoe trails. It is close enough to Minocqua to go out for dinner or pick up groceries. But if you come well prepared you will not want to leave the lake and cabin! Also full cell coverage (Verizon LTE/4G).

Cute, Cozy and Comfortable

We had a delightful time at this property. As described, it IS small, but we found it well-equipped for our needs. It was just the two of us but families with one or two kids would also be comfortable. Out the backdoor is a short path to the lake and we made good use out of the pedal boat and kayaks, although our favorite thing to do was just sit on the dock and watch teh sun go down. I was determined to have coffee with the deer (a la one of the previous reviews) but alas, the dream lives on. We did, however, spy a few deer roaming around at other times of the day, as well as some turtles, frogs, and woodpeckers. The owners were responsive and kind and left helpful information about the area's attractions. We would be thrilled to make a return trip!

Great Getaway for Some R&R

This cabin is the perfect retreat in the Wisconsin Northwoods. The cabin was very clean and stocked with everything you need. It's a short walk from the cabin down to the bay. We enjoyed some early morning kayaking on the calm lake and even saw a couple loons. Minocqua is close by and we had fun visiting the shops, local breweries, and the distillery. Overall, a very relaxing, no-fuss stay.

Great stay at a cabin in the woods!

Our five day stay in this quaint cabin was great! It's just up the hill from Birch Lake, and a short drive to hiking/biking trails, and about 20 minutes from town! The property manager was very responsive and answered quickly when I had questions. The lake is beautiful, and the description wasn't kidding about not needing A/C.

Perfect get away

Close to hwy and away from chaos. Lake access was perfect for fishing, close to hiking trails and dinner if you choose. Amenities provided if you forgot something. They thought of everything for this cute cabin. We will be back!

Great place to unwind!

So quiet and peaceful in the woods by the lake! Enjoyed kayaking on the lake with the loons, campfires in the evening and having morning coffee with the deer. Good location for hikes in northern WI and close to Minocqua for dining and other activities.

Relaxation at the Lake

Cabin was very well appointed, kitchen stocked with everything you need. Make sure you have the food items you might need, as the nearest grocery is a drive (over 12 miles). A perfect place for R and R. Enjoyed the paddle boat and kayaks, surrounded by nature (deer, eagle, loons, turtles, frogs, owl). Please note, there are steps from the cabin to the path down to the lake. Plenty of wood for camp fire at the cabin and the lake to enjoy the evening.
