About this property
Fern Cottage Brassington
Built in 1880, Fern Cottage is the classic country cottage, with thick stone walls, timber beams and lots of character. Sympathetically renovated to a high standard throughout, the accommodation is set over 3 floors and comprises:
Ground Floor:
Lounge – comfortably seating 8 people with log burner and a flat screen TV for cosy evenings in.
Kitchen-diner – the kitchen has a large range cooker with a gas hob, dishwasher, Smeg fridge-freezer plus separate wine cooler and island unit for informal gatherings. The dining space, also seating 8, is open to the kitchen making a great entertaining space.
Utility - there is a small utility area with washing machine plus a separate downstairs toilet.
First Floor:
Bedroom 1 – with king-sized bed, walk through wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with a large walk-in rain shower.
Bedroom 2 – with king-sized bed
Main Bathroom – with a double ended, roll top slipper bath plus separate rain shower.
Second Floor:
Bedroom 3 – with double bed
Bedroom 4 – with two single beds
Bathroom – with shower
Workspace:
Bedroom 4 has a dedicated workspace with views over the countryside. There is a desk and chair, extension cable with surge protection, USB charging and good Wi-Fi.
Outside Space:
The cottage has its own private garden and patio area, complete with outside dining for 8 people, a gas BBQ and a wood fired pizza oven for perfect evenings outside. (Pizza oven and BBQ available April – October). There is also a secure bike shed with racking to take 8 bikes, heavy duty padlock, a washing station and basic tools and equipment. The back gate is straight onto the footpath for easy access to the High Peak Trail and beyond.
Other details to note:
There is parking for two cars on the road outside the cottage. Please be aware this is not allocated parking so cannot be guaranteed, but is not usually a problem. If you have more than two cars, please park the additional vehicles further up the road outside the pub car park, out of respect for our neighbours.
Please note – the parking is on the opposite side of the road, so there is no way of charging an electric vehicle at the property.
There is good, free Wi-Fi throughout the property (41Mb), but no mobile signal in the area.
A full basket of logs is included in your booking for use in the log burner and pizza oven, further logs can be purchased if required during your stay. Gas for the BBQ is also included.
Up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome, on the understanding they remain downstairs and are kept off the furniture. We charge £35 per dog, payable on arrival.
Sorry, we don't allow smoking, including e-cigarettes.
Fern Cottage is a great place to celebrate a special occasion, but please be aware we are not a party venue. Please limit noise outside after 10pm.
