This was by far the worst communication experience we’ve had with VRBO.We contacted host using VRBO and WhatsApp the day before our arrival and again when we arrived. We let them know we were waiting outside in the rain. We received no response at all until an hour AFTER the official check-in time. Traveling internationally as we were, it was incredibly stressful not knowing whether we would actually have a place to stay.Eventually, we received a WhatsApp message with the entry code. We did not expect to be personally greeted, but timely check-in information would have made all the difference. Instead, we were told there had been an issue that needed fixing. We were outside the building for two hours in the rain, and during that entire time, no one entered or exited the building. With zero communication, we had already begun searching for a backup accommodation.As for the apartment itself, it felt very sterile and impersonal — more like a budget hotel than a welcoming rental. The soap was provided in a single-use sample packet, and there were no paper towels, napkins, or any small touches that make a place feel comfortable. There was only one kitchen towel, no extra blankets, no extra pillows, and the pillows provided were completely flat.Both bathroom sinks drained very slowly. Brushing your teeth required waiting several minutes for the water to go down, which was frustrating.Overall, the lack of communication and basic comfort made this a very disappointing stay.
