Town: Nestled between the rivers Orwell and Deben, this charming seaside town on the Suffolk coast, offers a wonderful mix of attractions and activities to suit all ages and interests. Steeped in history, this town dates back to before the Norman conquest of England, and its interesting heritage can be discovered at Felixstowe Museum, right on the tip of its sunny port, at Landguard Point. Don't miss a visit to Landguard Fort while in the area, where you can discover the rich military and maritime heritage by exploring the maze of rooms and passageways inside. This vibrant town also invites you to stroll along the seafront, taking in the fine Edwardian architecture; head to the thrilling children’s rides at Manning’s Amusements and Ocean Boulevard, and even hop on the little foot ferry for a trip to Bawdsey. This lovely, coastal village boasts a fascinating past, set on the beautiful Deben Peninsula, with Bawdsey RADAR and Bawdsey Manor to visit. Ipswich can be reached by car or train, and offers a selection of restaurants and bars overlooking the marina at the dock. This is one of England's oldest towns boasting the youngest Grade I listed building, which is located in the centre. Explore the beautiful landscapes within Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), rich with wildlife, this region is home to saltmarsh plants, wetland and coastal birds and a wide variety of mammals. Take a long walk beside the sea, a brisk stroll before lunch and cycling along quiet lanes. Those keen to try watersports, there is canoeing, rowing and windsurfing, among many other outdoor pursuits, as well as kitesurfing. A wonderful region to visit, all-year-round!
