Had such a lovely week at the cottage. Exactly as advertised - very cute 2 bedroom with beautiful views of the ocean from the two sitting rooms and the upstairs deck. Lovely neighborhood - quintessential Cape Cod. Terrific location - easy to get everywhere, including to the ferries to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Really enjoyed our stay!

Responsive tenants. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. Hope to see you next year!!
Beautiful small cottage, probably the second best location in maushop village. Steps from the gorgeous sandy beach, with the warmest water on the Cape. Amazing view from second story balcony, great spot for a glass of wine and a book. Highly recommend!!!

My husband and I had a wonderful time! The location was perfect and the grounds charming. Our host was easy to correspond with and answered all questions quickly. We loved falling asleep listening to the waves every night . One of most relaxing vacations to date. We hope to return !

Great location. I’d say the best in Maushop Village. Cottage was very clean and fresh smelling. The owner replies to any communication extremely quick. We would absolutely rent here again. Thanks Ester!

Excellent Vacation House
This property is very special. Everything you need in addition to a brand new kitchen. Two wonderful bedrooms with fabulous ocean breezes. Just steps to the beach. A great patio with incredible ocean views - it just doesn't get better than this. A nice walk for coffee, supplies, restaurants, etc.
Our family had a fantastic stay at this Maushop Village beach house gem. Steps from a beautiful sandy private beach. On a small dead end street in the village. Clean house with two separate rooms with double beds. Tons of views of beach and sunsets/sunrises. Only minor complaint was that there was no grill, but otherwise my family had a wonderful week. Perfect Cape vacation.

We stayed in this home in Aug 2020 and it was perfect for our family of 4. We loved being right at the beach access point and loved the ocean view deck off of the master bedroom. We are a family of 4 and the space was perfect - especially having 2 sitting areas so my husband could work in 1 room and kids could hang out in the other. The home was clean and well equipped. Ester was wonderful to work with!

The cottage is perfect from the inside / outside. My family and I enjoy a week in Maushop each June, this cottage was in the perfect location so close to the beach just a walk across the beautiful lawn and down the stairs! The roses and morning glory take your breath away each day.
Bright and sunny with amazing space that is so comfortable. The kitchen was great for cooking and had a nice big refrigerator. We loved our week!!!

So glad you enjoyed your week. Look forward to seeing you next year!!
We’ve stayed in Maushop a number of times and this is by far one of the best locations! Well kept home and good size from other smaller ones, perfect location at top of beach stairs, beautiful views - we had a great week with our two kids ages 7 and 10! We’ll def be back - Thank you!
We had a great time! My parents stayed in the cottage. The cottage is in fabulous location, very close to the beach. Great views from every room. Fun to people watch too. Lots of activity with families and dogs on walks. The views were amazing. We had a wonderful visit, look forward to staying here again soon!

Glad your parents enjoyed their stay. They were very responsive and were excellent tenants. Hope to see you next year.
In this case "private beach" means that you share it with all of the residents and guests of Maushop Village--some 150 people. There are only a couple of ways to get to the beach, and one of the paths goes right in front of this cottage's door. The house itself is attractive, though small. A primary drawback is the lack of air conditioning. Another is the poor cell service; we couldn't even use the phone to make a dinner reservation, but had to just show up and take our chances.

As we do with all our guests, we reached out to this guest and inquired about her experience and invited her to come back next year. She said she would save our information, but did not provide any review.
A few observations
On cell service, depending on the carrier cell service on the ocean can be spotty. However, there is a land line at the cottage prominently set on the kitchen counter and free to use for any local or US calls.
On the beach, this year the beach was in the best shape in 20 years, and due to Covid was popular. Only homeowners and guests can use the beach, and a beach flag is needed to gain access, but even with the popularity, social distancing is and was available on this private beach. One of three paths to the beach does go in front of our cottage, but that is because we are ocean front just steps to the beach and with magnificent views from all rooms. We attribute this comment and the beach comment to the unfamiliarity of Maushop by this first time visitor. The Village is comprised of quaint Nantucket style cottages. Our unit is the newest and one of the largest in the Village, and from the pictures, you can see that we actually have far more privacy than virtually all the cottages. Air conditioning has not been allowed in the Village since its inception. That option came up this year, but the vast majority of homeowners, including us, our opting not to install it as the ocean breezes in our unit keep our guests comfortable throughout the summer.
We hope this guest returns. We are quite popular and already have reservations for 70% of next season, all from returning guests.
We stayed at Ester's cottage as a group of two families of 3 (each with a 2-year- old child). Ester was great to work with, extremely responsive to questions and accommodating.
The cottage exceeded our expectations. Beautiful views from every room. The inside was updated, clean, and well stocked with everything you would need.
The steps down to the beach were about 100 yards from the back door, and the beach was great! The kids loved it, the waves weren't too big. I would recommend bringing water shoes because there are rocks when first entering the water.
There was also an adorable little village called the Pompannaset Market less than a 5 minute walk down a path. It was so convenient! They had 3 restaurants, a bakery for breakfast, 3 stores with clothes, jewelry, souvenirs, etc., liquor store, icecream shop, candy store, mini golf, toy store, live music, ... it was perfect to go to with the kids without having to pack them up into the car.
We had such a great time and would love to return!

Best Part of Our Summer Every Year!
Our family has rented this house every summer for approximately the last ten years. We absolutely love it! The location in Maushop is perfect - - literally steps away from the beach, which makes it very easy to take the kids back to the house for bathroom breaks and lunch (and the views from the house are amazing). The grassy area right outside the door is great too for playing ball, etc, with the kids. Maushop Village also is good for the kids to ride their bikes and there are tons of other families. We also like that the water is pretty calm due to the proximity to Nantucket/Martha's Vineyard. The house is very well-maintained and very clean. The house also has a wi-fi, which is a huge bonus for working parents on vacation! The Popponesset Marketplace is about a 5 minute walk. Also, Mashpee Commons is just a few minute drive and has about every shop/store you could possibly need (unlike other parts of the Cape). Staying at this house has become a family tradition that our kids looks forward to every year - - it truly is the best part of our summer!

About the host
Hosted by Ester Butler
Ester and Larry Butler are your hosts. We live on the North Shore in MA. Larry loves golf and Ester loves the beach, oceanfront, shopping, and dining -- and this cottage is right in the middle of all of it.
Why they chose this property
We chose Maushop Village due to its private beach, ocean views, and access to golf. With a short drive to many dining and shopping options, it is a very convenient location year round. We love day trips to Martha's Vineyard, Provincetown, and Hyannis. And Hyannis to Nantucket is a short boat ride and great day trip.
What makes this property unique
We are one of the original 37 detached condos at Maushop; totally rebuilt and in the front row, with unobstructed views of Martha's Vineyard and the ocean. The beach stairs are 50 yards from our front door; the Mashpee Marketplace is a 5 minute walk, and being in front of the rest of the Village, we get the nice Southwesterly ocean breezes - VERY relaxing spot!
