Number One a fabulous historic property with hot tub, cinema room and own bar.

Number One, The Terrace Windermere is a luxury big cottage in the English District, which sleeps 14 in 6 bedrooms with 4 bathrooms. Located in Windermere Village within a few hundred metres of all of the shops, bars, cafes and restaurants and also with almost direct access to the hills, Number One is in "position A". On the ground floor there is a fantastic lounge with huge leather Chesterfield sofas to seat 17 people, a majestic dining room to seat 20 people with its own bar area and a lovely hand built kitchen with 4 oven AGA.

The house features a 15 seat cinema in the cellar with 75 inch Smart TV. Fluffy towels and crisp white bedding are all part of the package. Outside there is private 7 seat hot tub, a large raised patio with outdoor furniture and a barbecue. There is parking for up to 5 cars.

Number One welcomes all kinds of break from hen nights to family celebrations in a variety of different length including 3 night weekends, great value 4 night mid-week deals and 7 night packages. Number One is part of The Terrace Windermere a private street of 5 large, 4 star holiday cottages available to rent either individually or in any combination sleeping from 11 to 67 guests. Number One has been rated 4 star. gold awarded by Visit Britain.

The Terrace Windermere
Andy was excellent providing a lot of information about check in process and places to visit at Lake District. Wonderful large house. Amazing kitchen and cinema room! Kitchen was fully equipped. Comfortable beds. Hot-tub was a bonus! Less than 2 minutes walk from the Windermere station and supermarkets, less than 5 minutes walk to town and 20 minutes walk to marina, 30 minutes tourist bus ride to Ambleside etc at £2 a journey. Very convenient location with lots of hikes. Quiet corner plot although next to the station and main road. Will definitely stay again. T group, July 2023

Great House, great holiday
My family meet in Windermere every year and come in from all over the world. We usually stay at Boston House, but this year we had to try Number One. Even though some of the family had to cancel due to illness, everyone still had a wonderful time. They actually preferred Number One to Boston House (just) which I never thought I'd hear them say. Great house, great hosts and an amazing location. See you next year!

Fantastic weekend away in a fabulous house
I stayed here in 2023 for my friends birthday and as soon as I got back I knew I wanted to go again this time with my partner and a group of couples. Got it booked again and it didn’t disappoint. As the organiser I was hoping my group would love the house just as much as me and it’s safe to say everyone did from the facilities to the location. I couldn’t recommend it enough and we will be back!

Fantastic House
A really comfortable, well equipped house, big but really cosy. We comfortably sat 12 for dinner, loved the very well equipped kitchen and even mastered the Aga. The enclosed garden was really safe for our dogs and very handy location for local walks or as a base to explore further. Owners responded really quickly to any questions. We would definitely book again.

Andrew and Barbara Cheetham 'collected' all 5 houses on The Terrace over a period of 10 years. The properties were built for the owners of The Windermere-Kendal railway. This is the first time all 5 have been under one ownership since they were built in the 1850s.

Why they chose this property

We purchased all of the properties on The Terrace to create luxury party houses in the aazing village of Windermere. Every weekend the houses buzz with the joy of people celebrating something. We love playing our part in generating special memories for all of our guests.

Number One has a 7-seat hot tub, a 15-seat cinema in the cellar and a bar in the hallway. The house is set up for entertaining up to 20 guests.
