Orrest Head is the perfect party house with it's own bar and private location. This 5 star house has direct access to the Orrest Head walk and large grounds for the kids to run wild in, yet is within a short walk of Windermere village where you'll find cafes, shops and bars galore.

The property features 5 ensuite bedrooms, 2 with in-bedroom baths that over look the extensive gardens. The lounge and dining room both seat 18, if you rent Orrest Head Cottage (to the rear) everyone can eat and socialise together. The kitchen in Orrest Head House is where everyone gathers, it's the perfect place for lazy breakfasts and relaxed evening meals. The beautiful gardens at Orrest Head House make a great playground. We have parking for a fleet of cars and a fast EV charger for those with electric vehicles.

We welcome up to 4 dogs at the property. There is an additional charge per dog, which can be added at check-out.

My birthday weekend with family

Stayed at orrest head house previously and was really happy to book a return visit. The house is amazing and the location is almost perfect. We felt relaxed and at ease throughout our stay and are looking forward to booking again later in the year.

Great stay at Orrest Head

We had a great time at Orrest Head, the house is beautiful with plenty of room for big families. The bedrooms were spacious and comfy, and the kitchen was equipped with everything you need for catering for large group size. The location was fantastic, we loved walking up Orrest Head with the dogs, Windermere was just a 5 minute walk away, and can walk, jump on a bus, or take the car to explore elsewhere too. The hosts are great, clear information and available to answer queries too- thank you, we had a great stay.

Great stay

Wonderful Family Weekend

What an amazing place to stay. We travelled as a family, 7 adults and 3 children - together with our 4 dogs. We wanted somewhere where we could all be together to celebrate what would have been my late son’s 30th birthday. This place was literally perfect. The house has everything that you’ll need for a weekend away. Great social spaces including the lounge, amazing kitchen and quirky pub/bar. Perfect location in Windermere and a lovely walk down into Bowness. All the rooms are beautifully furnished, homely and comfortable. We truly had the loveliest weekend, sharing memories and creating new ones. Thank you.

What a place!

Absolutely delightful weekend in Windermere for my sisters hen party. The house was absolutely beautiful. We have stayed in lots of cottages in the Lakes, but this feels more like a hotel with the standard of decor. The kitchen is well stocked, with everything you would need and plenty of fridge space. The property heads directly onto a walk up Orrest Head Hill which is an easy wander up to a lovely viewpoint. It is 2 minutes from Booths and into Windermere village, but the big garden still feels secluded and quiet- you couldn’t get a much better location. The big living room and dining room are brilliant for big groups. Also very reasonably priced for such brilliant value. The communication was very clear an we knew everything we needed to before arrival. We couldn’t have hoped for a better place to celebrate such a lovely weekend. 5 stars all round!

Bringing family together

Orrest Head house is an excellent property. Not only is it a lovely house, but many details have been thoughtfully prepared, likely through long experience of providing homes for visitors. It is these ‘extra touches’ that turn a good house into a comfortable home, in which each member of our extended family could find both private space and gather together as well. We highly recommend Orrest Head House both as a place to stay and from which to explore this beautiful region!

An excellent place for family and friends gatherings

Excellent facilities, house well equipped, comfortable, and plenty of space within the house. Shops, cafes pubs and restaurants close by. Close to bus station to travel throughout the Lakes without using the car.

25th Wedding anniversary

We really loved this house. Very good size rooms and lovely ensuite showers. Had some great evenings in the bar. Great location. Would not hesitate to recommend this house to anyone.

Short stay

Great place to stay, we had six adults and five grandkids there. The double room all with bathrooms and king size beds. The kitchen facilities are very good and the downstairs WC were excellent. The main living room is huge with lots of comfortable seating. The outdoor space is fantastic with a massive table and seating. The kids enjoyed playing in the large garden and everyone left happy

Fab stay at this historical house

Wonderful stay at Orrest Head House. The house is spacious enough and well equipped for a large group, and in a perfect location for exploring the lake district. Would recommend this lovely house to anyone visiting the lake district and can't wait to go back.

Lovely family stay

Perfect location for visiting the lake district. The house had everything you need and was very comfortable. All the family loved it. Great touch having a little bar room. Rooms were really nice and spacious. Beds were comfortable. Would definitely stay again

Excellent stay - highly recommend

We stayed here as three families. The house was absolutely perfect for us! So much space and such a well stocked house - had everything we needed! The grounds were also very beautiful. We will certainly be going back!

Superb

A lovely house in an area with beautiful scenery and lots to do. We had a great stay despite the poor weather. We have been coming away in January, as a group of 8, for many years and this is the best house we have stayed in!

Great holiday home

We had a fantastic week at Orrest Head to welcome in the New Year. The house has a really comfortable and welcoming ambiance. The in house pub was a great hit with all of us. Lovely power showers too. Would love to return in the summer at some point.

Family break in the Lakes

Fantastic house in Windermere. 5 en-suite bedrooms beautifully presented, Dining kitchen perfect for our family. Bar was cozy with log burner blazing - perfect! Large garden area great for games. House private & just a short stroll to town centre.

Incredible stay

The house was perfect for my best friends hen do. It blew her away with the size, location and the luxury elements. Each room has its own bathroom, there’s multiple communal spaces and the driveway is huge. Would highly recommend to anyone.
