Short stay
Excellent cottage in a very central position in Hawkshead. Easy to find with walks on the doorstep. Very comfortable beds and plenty of space to relax in. It was raining so the outdoor seating was unused but would be very useful in good weather

A nice relaxed holiday in fabulous Hawkshead cottage
We had a nice family holiday with our two student sons and two dogs here at Smithy cottage. The cottage is very comfortable and clean, fully equipped and was just right for us and ideal for the dogs. Handily placed near the centre of Hawkshead and so was only a short stroll to any of the nice pubs which was very welcome after a day out walking. In fact we didn’t use the car at all which was great. Plenty walks starting from the doorstep (might be worth putting some walking guides for people who don’t know the area in the cottage like the pink ones for Latterbarrow etc). We hope to come back - thanks.

Fantastic property in a wonderful location
My family and I have just arrived home following a fabulous long weekend break at Smithy Cottage. The cottage is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is perfectly designed and the living room is beautifully decorated. Each of the 3 bedrooms are very comfortable. The cottage sits on the edge of the beautiful village in a perfect position with the garden a perfect suntrap in the afternoon.

A lovely cottage in a perfect location for the lakes
Smashing cottage with some lovely little touches on arrival. What we loved was that is was home from home, with tea and coffee, a few dishwasher tables, dishcloths and everything you needed to get started. The little courtyard garden was a nice place to sit with a coffee (even in the freezing cold!) and I imagine it would be a lovely place to sit in the summer months. On the doorstep to beautiful scenery and the local pub and co-op. My only minor grumble was the frustration at the fire doors which automatically close and nearly chopped the dog in half - but there were door stops available to use. It's a cottage with wooden floor boards that creak so going to the loo in the night can be a noisy affair. The rooms were clean and tidy and the bedrooms were a really decent size! If I could make one improvement it would be to put a waterproof boot box outside so that rather than shoes and boots piling up and tripping us over in the kitchen we could leave them outside, giving us more space and less dirt!

Excellent stay at Smithy Cottage
Fantastic stay at Smithy Cottage, a lovely cosy property which was very clean and tidy and well equipped. Location was great as close to all amenities.
My only feedback would be parking, could do with a second permit as house sleeps 6 people and that's 2 cars, so parking was costly for my daughter for a week. Carparking was only a short walk from the cottage so no problem.
Surprised that not all windows upstairs were able to be opened, including the bathroom and one of the bedrooms, would have liked some fresh air in the morning and for ventilation, but imagine its the age of the property.
Very friendly hosts who called to let us know final details. a lovely stay and all round an excellent Cottage inthe right location to explore the Lakes with ease

Smithy Cottage, Hawkshead. Booked through Tern and Fell Escapes
I was lucky enough to win a week's free stay in a social media competition. This gave us the opportunity to visit the beautiful Lake District.
From the outset the communication from Tarn snd Fell Escapes was excellent and all instructions and vital information was clear.
The cottage is situated in the centre of Hawkshead which makes it convenient for the pubs, cafes and shops in the village. A bus stop is also nearby. Parking is provided by way of a permit in a carpark in the village.
The cottage is beautifully maintained, well stocked with essentials and really clean. I can't fault it.
Thank you Tarn and Fell Escapes for a great holiday !

Fabulous property
Lovely presented cottage in a perfect location. Cottage was really well equipped and had lovely charm. Many thoughtful touches made to ensure you had a wonderful stay. The village of Hawkshead is easy to get to and for a small village has lots of pubs and shops. Walks straight from the front door and Ambleside, Conitson and Windemere all nearby.
