Region: A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
Town: Minsterley, a thriving village in the Shropshire Hills, is only ten miles from Shrewsbury, a mediaeval market town. This quaint little village has a pub, one of the village's oldest structures, a store and post office, and a fantastic fish and chip shop! Takeaways and restaurants can be found in the nearby town of Pontesbury; it's just a one-mile drive away from Arscott Golf Club and Springlea Fishing Pool. For those who enjoy hiking and spotting wildlife, The Long Mynd is a great place to relax and take in the beautiful scenery. With over 600 listed buildings, Shrewsbury is one of England's best-preserved historic towns nestled on the banks of the River Severn. Admire Shrewsbury's beautiful cobbled alleyways and squares as well as its numerous festivals, such as the Shrewsbury Summer Season. The Shropshire Regimental Museum is housed in Shrewsbury Castle, which was built in 1083 and has beautiful gardens and grounds. In addition to the National Trust's Attingham Park, Wroxeter Roman City, the museums in Ironbridge, the castle and Michelin-starred restaurant in Ludlow, and the Acton Scott working farm that appeared in the Victorian Farm TV series, this charming village is the ideal touring spot for your Shropshire adventure.
