Refugio is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the peaceful calm of the surrounding Andalucian countryside. The large beautiful private swimming pool is surrounded by a relaxing terrace and all solely for your use. Refugio is situated in the stunning Guajar valley and is ideally placed for you to enjoy the numerous local walks, the Spanish way of life in nearby villages and the tantalising views of the Mediterranean.
There are numerous outdoor spaces to enjoy providing both sunshine and shade and for the more energetic there is a boules pitch to enjoy. The gated entrance and driveway provide ample secure parking.

Breathtaking View and Experience

Aside from some technical issues, the house offers a complete immersion into local life and the landscape's magnificence. The house is comfortable, lovelingly decored in a modern yet simple moorish style.Ideal for relaxation, hiking and discovering the powerful energies of the Guajares.We loved it!

Beautiful villa, in the hills of Andalucía

This is such a lovely villa, situated in the hills of Andalucía, 20 minute drive from Motril. The roads are winding, and the villa is literally situated at the top of the hill. It's very quiet, apart from the cicadas, and the views are just fantastic. You can just about see the sea in one direction, with views of the hills in all directions.We spent a cracking two weeks, lazing by the pool. The villa is well appointed, lovely ensuite and the kitchen is perfect.We will be returning.

Perfect

Quiet and very pretty with views that go on and on and change with the light. Great pool and outside space. Very well equiped for a complete break. I cannot think of any negatives!

Lovely property and views

Overall a brilliant stay at El Refugio. The owner, Ron, was always quick to reply and help with any queries we had, which made check in smooth. The views from the house are simply breathtaking, there are no pictures that can do them justice! There is plenty of comfy outside seating to take the views in too, which was great. The swimming pool was large and clean, with a pool cleaner coming once a week as well. Only problem with the pool is the amount of insects attracted to it, but that comes with being in a rural area. The house itself was clean, spacious and had everything you needed to cook and clean. There were also books and board games available. The only downside with the property is there is no air conditioning, which is usual for Spanish houses but for guests staying in the summer the fans available weren't much help against the heat in the evening, which made sleeping difficult. The local village has a great bar, small shop and bakery, so the essentials were close by. But a car is definitely needed for this property. El Refugio is the perfect place if you want peace and quiet (not in Fiesta times 🔊) and to escape for a bit. We would most likely visit again in the cooler months if no air conditioning is installed. Thanks to Ron for a lovely stay.

Een prachtige plek en een heerlijk huis met alle voorzieningen. Dorpjes in de buurt zijn schattig maar weinig tot geen voorzieningen. Bar restaurant Carmen is de enige plek en ook een aanrader. Buurtsuper is klein en voor hoognodige prima. De bakker rijdt rond en dagelijks vers brood te verkrijgen . Kortom, kom je voor rust, wandelen en mooie natuur , echt een aanrader!

Après un 1er séjour très appréciable en 2017 nous avons sauter sur l'opportunité de retourner à "El Refugio". Maison très fonctionnelle, extérieur extraordinaire, vue à couper le souffle. Nous avons également eu le plaisir de rencontrer Ron et Hilary qui sont des hôtes excellents, communication fluide et très agréable. Nous y retournerons une 3eme fois sans hésiter !Merci!
