A beautiful house in a wonderful location. The listing mentioned a fireplace but there wasn’t a fire in the property which was disappointing but didn’t detract from a lovely stay.

Ideal base to enjoy the Northern Lakes
We loved everything about our stay at Sheepfold Barn. Lovely accommodation, worked well for three couples. Beautiful setting, private and secluded but didn’t feel isolated. So nice to have a little walk from the doorstep for early morning and evening strolls watching the hares and lambs and birds, and enjoying the far reaching views. Good location for exploring the Northern lakes, no long drives needed and every journey full of delightful scenery. Would love to return for another stay.

Lovely ,uninterrupted break in a beautiful setting
We are just recently back from a long weekend at the Sheepfold Barn and would return in a heartbeat. Place is spacious, with ample of daylight, peaceful ,modern and in such a quiet location, that you will struggle to match it if that is what you are looking for. House has everything you need , for washing things (plates or clothes), cooking to hot tub to enjoy the lovely frosty mornings ( in our case) .Looots of parking space. There was only 6 of us ,but I believe the house sleeps 8 max and even then there would be plenty of space for everyone.Comfy beds. Staff were also super helpful prior to our arrival with some of the questions we had. 10 out of 10 .

The perfect weekend with friends
Sheepfold Barn was the perfect location for my weekend with friends! It's rural location gave us the peace we all wanted and privacy to use the hot tub without concerns about people looking. It is located at the end of farm track but despite the recent wet weather it wasn't too muddy and was easy to navigate. It's interiors are to die for and the house is well stocked with everything you could need, we all came away wishing we could live there full time! Only issue was the heating wasn't working while we were there, which took us a bit of time to work out as the house was cosy when we came in but quickly cooled. There were multiple electric and oil heaters provided, it just would have been good to know that in advance so we didn't need to figure it out for ourselves. We also had a slight issue with hot water (it is an immersion system rather than a combi boiler system that the wording of the handbook suggests, so we had simply used all the hot water) but they were easy to contact and sent someone to look at it within the hour. I would recommend Sheepfold Barn to others and I suspect I may be back myself!

Hi, Lucinda!
Thank you so much for such a warm, detailed and thoughtful review — you were an absolute pleasure from start to finish, and it’s lovely to hear how much you and your friends enjoyed your weekend at Sheepfold Barn. That peaceful rural setting is really special, and we’re delighted it gave you the privacy and tranquility you were looking for (with no one peering in on the hot tub!). We’re also glad the track wasn’t too muddy despite the recent weather — always a small win in the Lakes.
Hearing that you fell in love with the interiors and felt the barn was stocked with everything you needed honestly made us smile. It’s the kind of place that’s hard not to wish you could move into permanently, so we completely understand the feeling.
Thank you as well for your feedback about the hot water. wording We apologise for the confusion, and will look into the wording for future guests. We did leave a note explaining the temporary setup, but we appreciate that this was missed.
We’re also thankful you were patient with the hot water system, and we’re glad we could get someone out to you so quickly.
It means a lot that, even with those hiccups, you’d still recommend Sheepfold Barn and might return yourself. We’d absolutely love to welcome you back — hopefully with nothing to troubleshoot next time. We're working hard to have the underfloor heating fixed as soon as possible!
Best wishes,

Sheepfold
The house is beautiful & everyone walked away wanting all of the features in the kitchen!
8 of us stayed, beds were really comfortable, heating was comfortable, hot tub & scenery amazing. Little pub nearby for Sunday lunch was lovely.
Small niggles - the table doesn’t comfortably fit 8 people on (which is such a shame as meals with those views were amazing!) and everyone can’t really watch the TV together in the living room as the tv is behind one of the sofas & comfortably only fits 6-7 people (so we didn’t spend much time in the living room). Could do with a little bit of maintenance as a few things were looking tired/used & high ceilings need the cobwebs cleaning! Oh and hangers outside hot tub for dressing gowns/towels!
Overall we had a lovely time, it was remote & peaceful which is what we wanted.

A beautiful home in an outstanding location
Sheepfold Barn, as the name suggests, is a well presented barn conversion with lots of light and is fully equipped for an enjoyable stay. The location is fantastic with great dog walks on the doorstep. Being lambing season we were entertained by the frolicking lambs as we relaxed in the jacuzzi. Our dogs were very well behaved, initially curious but the long walks made them too tired to care. There is lots of parking available at the house which is accessible from a long bumpy drive, just take care and it won’t be a problem. The beds are really comfortable as are the sofas. We celebrated with family for a special 60th birthday and couldn’t have picked a better place. The weather was excellent so we were able to make full use of the stunning countryside. As others have commented there was an issue with the heating/water heat pump but each room had electric heaters. With the weather being good we did not need to use them during our stay. We did have an issue with hot water & not all guests were able to have a shower on the first morning. Being frugal on the following days meant we could last a tank. I would have appreciated transparency with the heat source pump before arrival. These things happen & it would not have put us off staying but being aware could have avoided the disappointment on the first morning. Overall we had a fantastic time & I would highly recommend this property and Keswick Cottages for booking. Their online booking system is easy & efficient and they are very responsive to queries. We look forward to our next visit!

Beautiful house stunning surroundings
We recently stayed at this property and overall had mixed feelings about our experience.
Firstly, the location is absolutely beautiful, and the property itself is gorgeous. It’s set in a stunning area and really feels special when you arrive. The quality of the bed sheets and towels was excellent — everything felt fresh, soft, and luxurious, which we really appreciated.
However, there were several issues that significantly impacted our stay. We were not informed prior to arrival that the heating was broken. Although plug-in heaters were provided, this was far from ideal — especially as we were travelling with our three-year-old child. It didn’t feel safe to leave portable heaters on overnight in their room, which meant the house was uncomfortably cold at times. To make matters worse, we had paid extra for early access to the property, yet when we arrived there was a heating engineer still there working. This was frustrating and not what we expected when paying for early check-in.
Cleanliness was also a major letdown. While it was clear that the bedding and towels had been changed, the rest of the house had not been cleaned to the same standard. The floors were very dirty, the kitchen counters were unclean, and the oven was also dirty. I ended up having to clean the floors and kitchen surfaces myself, which is not something you expect when staying in a property like this.
It’s such a shame because the house itself and the location are truly lovely. Unfortunately, the lack of communication about the heating and the poor standard of cleanliness really let the property down. With better maintenance, transparency, and a thorough clean, this could be an exceptional place to stay.
